Learning Intentions:
I can outline a range of changes that happen during puberty
I can organise the changes into three distinct categories
I can apply my knowledge by constructing appropriate advice in scenario-based tasks
The Lesson and Workpack focuses on encouraging students to explore the stages of puberty and to discuss maturely the impact puberty can have on everyday lives. Students consider not only the physical changes, but also the way puberty may effect social and mental health. The lesson focuses on correct use of terminology and developing literacy. Students are encouraged to demonstrate knowledge through scenario-based tasks and are given opportunity to reflect on how the lesson made them feel.
The Lesson includes resources that are non-specialist friendly.
PowerPoint and resources are in comic sans, with size 14 font and slides have a yellow background to ensure that it is SEN inclusive. The lesson includes differentiated learning tasks that challenge students to be critical thinkers. The lesson includes assessment for learning opportunities. In this lesson students are encouraged to demonstrate their knowledge and strengthen their literacy skills.
The PowerPoint has teacher notes with suggested teaching ideas and questioning, as well as suggested timings.
