QASHQAI NOMADS OF IRAN - FROM LOWLAND TO ZAGROS MOUNTAINS

This unit is about nomadism - the occurrence and the reasons for it. It has focus on two contrasting climatic areas - hot desert lowlands and the much cooler mountain valleys of the Zagros. It also provides information on the essential annual treks between these two area. Maps, photographs and climate graphs are given to assist in the discovery of the nomadic realities. The final page on "Qashqai Questions" is also provided as a black and white attachment in case black and white hard copies are needed. This unit works well if the material is first screened and discussed. Set questions can be used as in class activity, individual or group discussion or an at home requirement. This is a stand alone unit but it could be used with other studies of nomadism in Morocco or Mongolia. At junior Primary levels this could be a screen/awareness activity.
