This is a worksheet based on Julia Donaldson’s “What the Ladybird heard” with 12 tasks similar in style to those that children encounter in SATs papers. There are questions about the characters, the events, the grammar (parts of speech), the lesson the story teaches, but there is also a drawing task and an extra challenge task where children can practise expressing themselves and their own opinions as well as practise writing. Types of tasks include: multiple choice, open-ended, matching, true/false.

There is an answer sheet an adult (teacher or parent) can use and a colouring page - children earn a “ladybird’s spot” for each mark and can colour the spots in.

I have piloted this worksheet with children aged 6-7. The children enjoyed it, but some will need support if they are not yet confident readers.
