Rosa Parks!
A narrative text and a non-fiction text.
With comprehension questions and answers.
Rosa Parks was a key figure in the American Civil Rights movement and is a hero to advocates of anti racism.
The fateful day when she refused to stand up to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, sparked the Bus Boycotts which lead to the end of segregation on buses.
This story is often used in October, during Black History Month in the UK. However, this comprehension exercise has been designed to use any day of the year, to support civil rights education and anti racism discussions.
It was created for a freelance writer position for an educational resource website, but since I never heard back about the job, I thought I’d share it with you to use in your classes.
I’d love to hear what you think, so please do leave a review. Especially if it lead to valuable anti racism discussions. Let me know!
