Hello dear reader, in this handout we shall be exploring how a writer’s choice of language can profoundly affect the tone, mood, and overall impact of a text. We’ll use the two versions of the story “The Ant and the Grasshopper” as our reference points to see how different language choices can lead to very different reader experiences.
