An entire SoL focussed on oracy and developing academic discussion. The unit of work zooms in on a different character from a Shakespearean play and looks at them using feminist, race or gender theory to challenge students’ thinking.

SoL is easily adaptable to be changed into a reading focus. There is an oracy assessment built in to the slides.

Lessons 1-4: build context of Shakespeare and critical theory
Lessons 5-13: A series of extracts which can be taught in any order.
Lesson 14-17: Oracy Assessment planning and completing.

BIG Question: WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF HOW CHARACTER AND IDENTITY IS REPRESENTED IN SHAKESPEARE’S PLAYS?
