To promote spontaneous speaking, I have trialed pair-work questioning with my students. I copy the attached file onto different coloured card and then cut out. I put them into piles face down. The idea is for students to work in pairs, taking in turn to take a card from the pile and ask their partner the question on it. This is good for comprehension practice and also allowing students to build their confidence when speaking.
