Excel worksheet that produces a 9 letter grid to play spelling/word making games on an interactive whiteboard. I use this as an assembly starter activity for junior assemblies but it could just as easily be used as a lesson starter or end of day game. Just click on the change button to produce a new grid to play with. Favourite games with my pupils are longest word, unique word, most 3/4/5 letter words etc.
Rules are simple - you can use each letter only once and you must use the middle letter in your word. You can make your own rules of course! I use a minute sandtimer as I can’t work out how to make a countdown timer in Excel.
