In this year 8 project students make a bag that includes machine embroidery and mark making with fabric paint. Through the construction of the bag, students become competent at threading up the sewing machine, knowing the names of the different parts and develop their knowledge of seams, sewing them with accuracy. This experiment with mark-making and start to look at the formal elements when analysing their samples and work.
This knowledge organiser includes some potential retrieval questions that could be asked of students to check that they have been learning their knowledge organiser. My students are expected to learn different sections for homework.
