This lesson focuses on the dissolution of the monasteries in England.

It includes details around why it happened and a video resources explaining it.

The lesson introduces the students to the valor ecclesiasticus and why the monasteries were visited, providing students with the context of the dissolution.

The main task is a carousel task in which students visit different monasteries and engage with the accusations from the valor around the monastery. The information sheets all include details about the chosen monastery and primary source evidence.

The final task is a letter writing task about the events that occurred during the dissolution. This is the final lesson in the Break with Rome module and the letter task is the consolidation of module that could be used as an end of module assessment.

This lesson was designed for A-Level History but could easily be adapted for younger learners.
