Complete scheme of work including PowerPoints, information sheets and activities, for the Norman Invasion. No specific textbook is needed as information sheets are included throughout.
Lessons covering:
- Contenders to the throne in 1066 (Harold Godwinson, Harald Hardrada and William, Duke of Normandy)
- The events of Stamford Bridge and the Battle of Hastings
- Why William won the Battle of Hastings
- Why William built an Abbey at Battle
- How William took control of England (Hereward the Wake, the Harrying of the North, using Norman Nobles and Norman style rule)
- How William organised England (the Domesday Book and the Feudal System)
NB: There is no summative assessment set as each school has a different assessment possibility, but there is a suggestion of using ‘why did William win the Battle of Hastings?’ and a misconception lesson to go with this question.
