This lesson is the second in a sequence of lessons designed to help build and develop pupils’ retrieval skills. Included is an excerpt of Chapter 3 of Holes (copyright to author Louis Sachar).
The length of the excerpt is similar to that of a KS2 SATs reading text. Retrieval questions based on the excerpt have also been included as well as an extension activity.
Also included is a PPT which explains some different types of retrieval questions that may appear in a KS2 SATs reading paper (the question types included are different to that explained in Lesson 1). The PPT also gives some important reading tips to help students understand how to answer retrieval based questions.
