I have delivered this unit to Years 3 and 4, so here are all the resources you will need to teach it. The main focus is to explore the features of an explanation text. We also look at letter writing, the use of onomatopoeia, time conjunctions and technical language. Wallace and Grommit’s Cracking Contraptions is used as a stimulus for the children to write an explanation about how the Snoozatron works. Their final task is to create their own Cracking Contraption and to write an explanation about how it works.
