Uses of electromagnets - complete lesson (KS3)

A complete lesson based on the Activate 2 (P1.8) SOW but can be used for others. Students are introduced to the uses of electromagnets with examples, video is used to incite their interest further. An introduction to motors is included (a demonstration is useful here). Students then take part in an information hunt to apply and reinforce their learning - answers included. Using Ipads students then conduct independent research on recycling and electromagnets, producing a leaflet which can be judged by peers. Students then take part in a Kahoot quiz on the topic of electromagnets (free log in and Ipads required). The plenary consists of students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives, a soft toy can be thrown around to elect who reads out their answer.
