VCAL Literacy - Bundle Unit for Learning Outcomes 1-8

This VCAL Literacy bundle covers all 8 learning outcomes for Foundation and Intermediate levels. There are many opportunities to cover the oracy learning outcomes throughout the unit as well. There is an assessable task per learning outcome included, with rubrics, graphic organisers and a PowerPoint to teach the skills needed to complete each task.

Included in the unit:

• STEM project for engagement and to set the theme of the unit.
• Reading and writing tasks for practical purposes, knowledge, self-expression and public debate
• Rubrics for all tasks
• Teaching notes and links to curriculum
• PowerPoint slides that cover the explicit teaching of each skill, with applied learning links to the skills in workplaces
• Choices of tasks and texts in some learning outcomes to support student agency

The teaching notes document is 43 pages long, includes all curriculum links, tasks and graphic organisers needed (provided in both PDF and Word formats for editing).

The student notes document is 36 pages long and is ready for printing or uploading to your online platform for students (provided in both PDF and Word formats for editing).

The PowerPoint is 82 slides and includes all learning outcomes and teaching slides for you and your students.

This unit should take approximately a whole term to teach, but the timeframe is dependent on your SWL requirements and your individual cohort’s needs.
