I usually select a random sample of books to mark to get an overview of attainment in the class.

Each student receives a copy of this sheet after you have marked their books.

There is a space to comment on the positives you have observed, ways to make make progress, and a quick DIRT task.

I normally display this on the board and discuss spelling, punctuation, and grammar issues that I have noted so that students can make appropriate corrections.
