This resource is a teacher led Power Point with photos of different animals grouped in to carnivore, herbivore and omnivore.
The children are invited to try and name all the animals to ensure they are familiar with the names of each.
There are three different pages of animals - each page grouped by carnivore, herbivore and omnivore so that the teacher can explain what kinds of foods each animal might eat.
There is a short STEM video embedded in to the Power Point to consolidate their learning.
The children then independently complete a sheet to list the different animals under the correct headings
(pictures are provided for children who cannot read or write).

The resource is accompanied by an illustrated rhyming story (500 words - 4 minutes) about a squirrel who has a forest feast each autumn. The story is designed to be used as a hook to the lesson to encourage the children to start thinking about what animals eat and how they get their food.
