Hi,
Here are some activities that could be useful for teaching finding a fact family. I used them over three days and did some practical building activities using counters to support finding the facts.
Activity 1 - Completed as a team - Use the 8 addition and subtraction facts (two families) ask children to match the statements to a picture to each one e.g 4 + 2 = 6, 2 + 4 = 6 – draw out to lead to a fact family – which ones are the same? Can you group them?
Activity 2 - Completed independently - Sort facts that match the picture similar to activity 1 and stick in book.
Independent activity 1 and 2 - A scaffolded sheet with an image and part-part whole to complete the missing addition and subtraction facts .
Hope they are helpful!
Many thanks!
