Year 5 or 6 Personification Poetry

A four session writing opportunity, exploring the structure and language of poems.

I’ve taught this with Y3 - Y11 with great results. No matter the age, the pupils always enjoy the humour and the practicality of handling actual objects.

This version has National Curriculum objectives for Years 5 and 6. It’s good for short burst writing, to boost the writing portfolio of Year 6 before moderation, teaching editing skills, developing planning skills, leading onto performing poetry (one of the NC objectives).

Most resources embedded into the PowerPoint. It includes an example poem written by yours truly. The guidance, on how to teach it, are in the notes section of each slide.
