This lesson is designed for year 7, as an introduction to science and how to use bunsen burners. It covers the names of the different parts of a bunsen burner and has a practical element measuring temperature change during the heating of water (introducing the importance of methods/methodology).

This lesson is animated to assist with delivery of a lesson. This lesson comes with a Do Now/Starter activity. It includes the lesson’s learning objectives and the learning outcomes. It includes important definitions, and keywords. Each activity has a timer, and the answers for each activity can be found on the slides. There is an indicator on the top left corner if the activity is suitable for paired, grouped or independent work.
This lesson bundle comes with worksheets, for students to used during the activities. There are worksheets that are also differentiated for lower ability students, and stretch and challenges for the higher ability students.
There is also a short plenary at the end.
