In this lesson, the students will explore age restrictions relating to film, videogames and social media and the laws that underpin them. We will look at the reasons why we have age restrictions and discuss how viewing inappropriate content can be harmful. The students will apply their knowledge to a set of case files and reflect on whether the examples would be suitable for their age group. We will look at some examples of positive and negative stereotypes and discuss how these ideas can lead to people being treated unfairly. We will look at the experiences of women in STEM, with a particular focus on the mistreatment of female scientists throughout history. We will then discuss different ways that we can challenge gender stereotypes and ways that we can celebrate the achievements of women.
