This lesson covers a variety of issues, including cyber-bullying, social media safety, online-scams, data theft and privacy, image sharing and fraud. A detailed and well differentiated lesson which covers both content for Edexcel Citizenship GCSE 9-1 - Theme B ‘Democracy at Work’ (the Constitution) and also ‘Law and Justice’ (the Justice system in England and Wales) - Theme C. This lesson focuses on the roles and powers of the police as well as the different roles within the police. It also covers the structure of the force, as well as how it fits within the wider justice system.

NEW PSHE lesson all about what communities are, why they are beneficial to us, how our mental health improves when we become involved in off-line communities and how our mental health suffers when we lose contact with our off-line communities.
Students will investigate different types of communities, how they develop, how they overlap and how they can lend support in time of need. They will also examine the phenomenon of the hikikomoris of Japan, individuals who choose to actively cut themselves off from all off-line communities, and explore the impact this has on their mental health.
This has been written to cover the 2020-24 PSHE guidance on the importance of communities. The lesson will last you at least one hour and is best suited to upper KS3 or KS4.
There are a variety of tasks, from creative to literacy, to clip and analysis. Everything is editable and ready to go.

This resource is in two parts, so can be used for two 25 minute Tutor Time sessions. It may stretch over three if you complete all the activities.
Part 1) Were the first Britons Black? This part has been created to spark your students’ interest in the origins of Britain as a multi-ethnic country. It introduces recent research on ‘Cheddar Man’, an individual discovered to be one of the first peoples of Britain, and of a group many would describe today as people of colour. In this part, students also cover how for centuries western academics grouped together completely unrelated cultures as ‘black’ and see that recent DNA discoveries have shown that there is more human genetic diversity in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa than there is in the entire rest of the world.
Part 2) More of a traditional Black History session, looking at the origins of the month, back to its conception in America, the Civil Rights movement and including reading comprehension tasks and clips with differentiated questioning.

The resources are all in the ZIP file, the images have been uploaded so you can clearly see an example on Tes of some of the contents.
The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is useful for PSHE, Citizenship or Tutor Time. As with all our lessons, you don’t need any prior knowledge as all the information is included - you can just pick up and teach it.

This lesson focuses on why gender equality is so important, the benefits to all of society of gender equality (including males) and the evidence we have which indisputably proves this.
Students investigate the latest scientific studies on the personality differences between men and women, critique them, read about the nature vs nuture debate and explore how extremists have hijacked information about male and female differences for their own agendas.
