A simple interactive whiteboard maths game to support early counting, addition and subitising skills. Children are presented with varying arrangements of buttons within five on the gingerbread man/woman. Children click on the number card showing the matching amount of buttons. This game can be played in various different ways depending on the needs of your children and is easily editable (21 slides in length). For example, higher achievers might like to write the corresponding calculation on small whiteboards, whilst other children may prefer to show the answer with their fingers or with number fans. This game fits well with WhiteRose Maths planning Alive in Five and builds on developing number knowledge within five by practising subitising and introducing the concept of adding one more. A simple IWB Maths Game to support the development of children’s early conceptual subitising and addition skills within ten. Children are presented with various domino arrangements (total amounts from six to ten) and say the number of spots they can see altogether. Help the Dinosaur count the spots. Children calculate the total amount of spots and click on the matching number card to reveal the answer. Although this IWB Maths game is not endorsed by WRM, it is strongly aligned to the EYFS Spring Term WhiteRose Maths Units Growing 6,7,8 and Building 9 and 10. This IWB Maths game works well as part of whole class teaching and learning or as a small adult-led guided group session. Children can write the addition calculation on small whiteboards or show the answer with their fingers. This game helps to consolidate children’s conceptual subitising skills and addition within ten. This game is designed in PowerPoint and therefore easily editable (24 slides in length and fully interactive). A multi-purpose IWB resource designed to develop children’s early number knowledge using a ten-frame. Children are invited to say the amount of people (blue counters) upstairs, downstairs and altogether, and calculate one more and one less shown on the ten- frame and or how many more blue counters would make ten. Children are invited to say how many people (blue counters) they can see on the bus. They might also be asked to add one more or one less to the bus or how many more would make 10. This resource aligns well with WhiteRose Maths Units for EYFS and Yr1 although is not endorsed by WRM. As well as supporting early number recognition skills this game strengthens compositional knowledge of amounts within 10. This IWB Maths resource can work well as part of whole class teaching, small guided group work and or 1-1 adult-led teaching and learning. In addition to using this resource on the IWB, a selection of slides could be printed off and used during continuous learning provision. This may provide great opportunities for further number exploration of composition of ten. Children can be invited to place counters/cubes to represent varying numbers of people on the bus. For example, five people upstairs and two downstairs equals 7 OR four people upstairs and three people downstairs also equals 7. This is an ideal resource to develop children’s early counting skills and strengthen their compositional understanding. A simple interactive white board activity/maths game that is great for modelling counting back from 10, The slides are fully interactive and the activity links well with White Rose Spring term planning session 6 “Counting back from 10 - Ten in a Bed”. Children are presented with a variety of different cartoon animals in the bed and explore what would be one less by counting back from 10 using the Ten in a Bed nursery rhyme. Following this different numbers of animals are presented in the bed. Children need to count the number of animals in the bed and click on the matching digit card. Larger images of all the animals included in the Powerpoint are included at the end of the slides. These can be made into puppets which can be printed off and laminated for exploration in whole class provision or works well as a small group activity. Children can use their puppets to show how many animals are in the bed and practice counting back from 10.
