French Basics Revision Worksheets BUNDLE
3 four in-a-row games and 3 puzzles worksheets for fun revision of the KS2 Y5 / Y6 statutory word list of 100 words. They work well for Year 6 SATs tests preparation, or use as starter tasks, early finisher activities or as stations in spelling / SPaG lessons. Ideal as fun, meaningful fillers activities too. These use UK spelling, punctuation and grammar rules.
SAVE as part of a SPaG Revision Activities BUNDLE, which also contains SPaG Editing / Proofreading Puzzles.
3 HIDDEN WORD / SPOT THE MISTAKES PUZZLES:
Puzzles feature sentences containing multiple words from the Year 5 and Year 6 spelling list, most spelled correctly
Students check carefully to spot errors and highlight corresponding letters in the grid at the bottom
Rearrange highlighted letters to form another word from the spelling list
To save printing, print puzzles on card and laminate. Students use whiteboard pens, allowing repeated use
Puzzles are included with a pastel background, to reduce glare for dyslexic learners and others for whom this is helpful. If not colour printing, it becomes a greyscale background, which you might like, though there are also versions without a background
Spotting errors may help students remember to check their own work and help them avoid errors themselves
Individual, pairs or small group use
For differentiation put lower ability children into pairs, perhaps with a higher ability student. You could allow a word list or dictionary for support
3 FOUR IN A ROW GAMES:
Each board contains 36 sentences featuring a misspelled word from the Year 5 and Year 6 word list
These words are printed in bold and underlined
Pairs or individuals can play against each other, aiming to correct 4 adjacent spellings in a line - horizontally, vertically or diagonally
Students roll dice to determine from which column they must pick a sentence
Print and laminate for regular use
Originally designed for A3 printing, and I recommend this, with students writing directly on the board with a thin whiteboard pen. However, it works fine in A4 (you may need to adjust printer settings). If A4, students could write their spelling on a mini whiteboard or paper and put their initials in the space if correct

Christmas Literacy fun! These 6 December no prep KS2 Editing / Proofreading Literacy puzzles worksheets (and full solutions) are ideal for the busy end of term. Use for starters, main lesson tasks or early finisher activities to practise a range of spelling, punctuation and grammar during December. 3 puzzles were originally designed for Year 6 and 5 (P7 and P6) and 3 simpler ones for Year 3 and 4 (P4 and P5). Both sets could be used in the same class for differentiation if required. They could also be used for revision in early KS3. Versions are included with and without a festive background picture. All sentences are Christmas-themed.
Now available in a good value Christmas Puzzle BUNDLE with this festive mental maths puzzle pack: Christmas Mental Maths Puzzles
An engaging alternative to worksheets, these festive puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher, revision or filler tasks for this special time of year. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a Christmas-related word is revealed after completing the editing work. Each puzzle contains 20 lines of text (or 15 in the simpler ones). Pupils circle any mistakes they spot. If there are 3 or more mistakes in a single line, they highlight the corresponding letter in the grid at the bottom of the page. At the end they rearrange the highlighted letters to reveal the Christmas word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups, with pupils supporting each other and pooling their editing / proofreading skills.
Pupils often forget or avoid re-reading their own work to check for errors so it is great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid errors themselves.
Some of the aspects of SPaG included: common spelling errors, full stops, capital letters, question marks, commas, colons, speech marks, proper nouns, missing words, repeated words, tenses, subordinate clauses and embedded clauses. (Not all concepts feature in the 3 simpler puzzles (Puzzles 4-6).

Puzzle 7 comes in two versions - rounding to the nearest pound / rounding to the nearest dollar.
These puzzles are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers (whether it is to the nearest 10, 1 decimal place etc). Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.
The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and revision and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes.

Originally designed for a mixed ability Y5 (Primary 6 in Scotland) but could be used for Y6 (Primary 7) for revision or differentiation. Answer Card (angle type and measurement) and Pupil Instruction Cards for all activities included. There’s Teaching Notes with further explanations and learning intentions.
To consolidate or review understanding of angle types, Snap can be played, pupils calling ‘Acute!’ or ‘Reflex!’ etc as appropriate instead of ‘Snap!’ Alternatively, print out the Angle Type name cards included in the pack and play a game of Which Angle?. More able learners can combine their estimation of angle size with mental addition in the 2 Estimation Challenges.
Of course they can just be used for practising estimating angle size and then calculating the degrees using a protractor. Also included is an instruction card for angle drawing challenges that don’t involve any cards. Finally, there’s a set of 20 acute, obtuse or right angles for younger or lower ability pupils to do a sorting activity Acute, Obtuse or Right? They’re smaller as they don’t need to be measured. There’s an answer card for this set too so pupils can check angle names.

3 WORKSHEETS (with answer keys), all in 1- and 2-star versions (1-star for lower ability, younger or less experienced students.)
HIDDEN WORD PUZZLE: Individuals, pairs or small groups find errors in French summer activity phrases. When they find one, they circle the letter printed in the same box. At the end they rearrange the circled letters to complete the phrase at the bottom of the page.
WORD SEARCH: An easier, 1-star version gives students the first 3 letters of each one. An extra challenge has students put the unused letters together to make a short phrase.
CROSSWORD: An easier, 1-star version gives students the first 3 letters of each word that they need to write into the grid (without accents).
ANSWER KEYS AND TEACHER NOTES
Key Stage 2 (KS2) area printable activities - fun, strategic games of Four in a Row for consolidation and revision of area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound / composite shapes. Differentiated 3 ways. Originally designed for Y5 and Y6 but it might suit some older groups (KS3) too. In Scotland, use for Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7.
The boards were originally designed to be printed in A3 and I recommend this so that children have sufficient space to record the area of each 2D shape. Taking turns to go, children use a different coloured whiteboard pen to write the area of a shape in the appropriate box on the grid. If using the same colour as their opponent, they could add their initial to the box.
When someone achieves 4 in a row, answers could be checked using the ANSWER GRIDS, or by using a calculator.
1-star version - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. No conversion required.
2-star - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. More challenging calculations. Some conversion required between centimetres, metres etc. Includes decimal lengths and breadths.
3-star - area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound / composite shapes. Some conversion required. Includes decimal lengths and breadths and more challenging calculations. Some of the compound shapes require children to work out the length of a side, using other given sides, before they can work out the area.
Children will be able to do some of the calculations mentally but could work out more challenging ones before writing in the answer on the grid.

An engaging alternative to worksheets, these make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities for this time of year. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a Bonfire Night-related word is revealed after completing mental arithmetic calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing mistakes. Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal the word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups.
Students often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Negative Numbers, Fractions, Percentages and Decimals (Not all concepts feature in Set B)
