There is also a baseline assessment with mark scheme for Y7 to assess knowledge and skills at the beginning of KS3.
The Topics studied are Medieval History and Historical skills.
I originally made this as a guide for new students who came into the school part way through the course. Now all students complete it when we are doing the USA topic.
It is 83 pages long, includes tasks, exam practice, second order concept skills practice and key word opportunities. It covers the entire USA topic and has tasks related to every section like comprehension exercises, filling in a table, case studies, diamond 9 and designing an advert for a Jazz speakeasy. Every exam question on the paper is planned and practiced with mark schemes and room for student improvements. It can be used hand in hand with the free book resource from Eduqas on their website. At the end of the book is a PLC on the whole topic for students to check their knowledge and set targets. https://resources.eduqas.co.uk/Pages/ResourceByArgs?subId=17

Lessons for all 7 of the key questions.
A sequence of three lessons for each key question and an Elizabeth I knowledge organiser to use whilst teaching the lessons.
These lessons are retrieval based and are used in conjunction with the knowledge organiser included.
Lesson 1 - The Big Picture - extended content with a Do it Now and retrieval activity
Lesson 2 - Mind mapping lesson with an example mind map and a Do Now for the start of the lesson
Lesson 3 - Testing - An extended Do Now comprising of 10 factual questions and one of the exam questions which feature on the Elizabeth I exam paper. The question is explained, modelled and then students have a go too.
The slides are based around the knowledge on the knowledge organiser. During the mind mapping and retrieval activities, higher ability students are given extra information so that they complete in more detail.
We have found this method successful in helping all of our students remember the key information as the three lesson sequence embeds the core knowledge they need.
Homeworks should be focused on revising / self-quizzing from knowledge organisers as well as completing mind maps.
This method is also useful when students are absent from previous lessons as they are able to fit straight back in by using knowledge organisers.
