Algebra. Creating and Expanding Double Brackets. Christmas Challenge. FREE SAMPLE Brighten up algebra in the run up to Christmas with this fun little festive challenge. Students need produce two expressions for the area of the surface of my Christmas dinner table – one with brackets and one without. They are presented with two expressions, one for the length and one for the width of the table. To find the first expression (with brackets), they need to apply the formula for the area of a rectangle i.e. multiply length by width. These brackets can then be expanded to produce a second expression for the area of the table. This is a PowerPoint Presentation so it can be easily displayed on the board and/or printed for students. What you are downloading here is the free sample which contains a title page, instructions, one blank challenge and one corresponding answer slide. A full set of 20 challenges is also available for download. The full set covers:- (x+)(x+) (x+)(x-) (x-)(x-) (nx+)(nx+) (nx+)(nx-) (nx-)(nx-)
