How to Turn Mixed Numbers into Improper Fractions

Shhh! Converting mixed numbers to fractions is simpler than you thought! Take a peek inside this fractions resource… This resource contains: A cheatsheet poster on how to turn mixed numbers into improper fractions A scaffolded worksheet which breaks down each step and gets students to show their working A worksheet for practising the quick method of converting to improper fractions Answer keys for each worksheet Colour and grayscale versions I’ve found that a lot of students I’ve taught started Fractions units feeling quite daunted and low in confidence. At first, fractions can seem a bit tricky to grasp but I think the best thing is that once students ‘click’ and realise that there are methods they can use to answer types of questions, the whole topic is suddenly demystified. I made this cheat sheet as a reference sheet to show how mixed numbers and improper fractions relate and then show the step-by-step process for converting to improper fractions. I’ve included a few definitions and key mathematical knowledge that students will need to complete the included practice activities. If you’re after some more practice worksheets on converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, here are a couple more. Happy teaching & learning! Times Tables Blank Grid

Just what you need for your next multiplication warm-up… 12x12 times table grids! These blank times table grids are designed for students to learn and practise their 1-12 times tables. This pdf contains 20 worksheets with colour and greyscale versions as well as variations with recording space for time, score and target setting. I can’t overstate how important it is for our students to quickly and accurately recall their times tables. This knowledge provides the foundation for making mental maths calculations and allows them to solve equations with higher numbers, fractions, percentages, decimals and more! Using these grids for regular basic facts testing will help students to memorise their times tables and identify which ones they still need to learn. For our struggling learners, we can emphasise the importance of simply improving on their score or time from the previous test and praise or reward them on their PROGRESS - not for being the fastest in the class. So, whether you choose to use these for Friday basic facts testing, Maths warm-ups or homework, make sure it’s REGULAR practice and that you encourage your students to have a CAN-DO attitude because it’s then that you’ll really see the results. Enjoy! Be purposeful teachers Who are in control Feel inspired And know they’ve done enough. ☆ If you found this product helpful, please leave a review below! @attheminute.teaching
