Students love Escape Rooms and Rugby. Combine them and it is a hit. Capture their imaginations with this rugby themed escape room specifically designed with the Rugby World Cup in mind.
Students will read and learn about the origins of rugby, how to play, information on the cup, and its 2019 host Japan. After reading the material, students need to solve 5 puzzles based around each section of text in an escape room style format. This is also a fun way to develop and practice reading comprehension.
For those of you knew to escape rooms, instructions are given on how to set up and deliver this program. There is very little preparation to be done, but basically some printing, cutting and laminating which should take less than 20 minutes. On the day, all you need to do is group the students and scatter the the texts and clues around the room, then sit back back and watch the students have a blast.
In 2019, there are 20 countries participating including; Ireland, Scotland, Russia, Samoa, New Zealand, South Africa, Italy, Namibia, Canada, England, France, Argentina, USA, Tonga, Australia, Wales, Georgia, Fiji, Uruguay and the host country Japan. So whether you an an All Black, Wallaby, or a Springbok come and enjoy the fun.
Everyone has an opinion. Help your students develop theirs with these Would You Rather cards. I have have included a recording sheet so that it encourages students to think about both sides to an argument, write which side they believe in, and share it with others.
I have used them, both, as a class activity and for early finishers. The students simply choose a card and grab a pre-printed recording sheet and off they go. It makes the perfect addition to your Daily 5 work, and reading and writing centers.
There are 40 cards to choose from. I simply print them off, laminate, and cut them to size. I have also included 2 versions of the task cards to choose from. First being an ink heavy version and the second a version that is more printer friendly.
This American Sign Language poster is the perfect reference point for both yourself and the class to begin learning sign language or reinforce what what you have taught.
There are 4 different vibrantly colored posters to choose from, alongside a black and white version that you could print onto colored paper.
This poster is a large 17" x 11" which makes it easier to shrink down to other paper sizes

This fun and engaging Phonics Jeopardy Style Game is the perfect way to review and learn phonics. I typically put the class into small groups and ask a member of the group to choose a color and number. That is the question that they have to answer. If correct they get the dollar value of the question. Then I move to the next group. Alternatively the whole class answers and then we tally up the points to get a winner.
Categories included are; long vowels, short vowels, blends, r-controlled vowels, and digraphs.
I run it on an interactive whiteboard but would be equally successful on a projector, computer or TV screen. Alternatively it could be run for an individual student on their own device. To add points for the group/individual click on the appropriate score board. The value goes up $100 each click.

With beginning readers in mind, these initial sounds alphabet cards are perfect for young children learning their first words.
They are ready to print. All that is required is to laminate them for extra strength. Personally I use card stock for even more durability. The students just use plastic letters or whatever you have lying around and match the initial sound with the appropriate picture.
I also cut them into the 6 picture strips, but you could leave them on the A4 page giving each student 12 initial sounds to find, as opposed to 6.
They are perfect for individual, buddy or group activity.
