I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - I point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word.
The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are beginning to familiarise themselves with the written word, and starting to link spelling with sound. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning.
There are 25 animals featured in the game:
bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle
There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: I’ve found this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more!
Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and last in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again.

FRENCH TASK CARDS BUNDLE #1
PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH FOR CHILDREN FRENCH IMMERSION BEGINNER FRENCH INTERMEDIATE FRENCH TASK CARDS 13 sets of task cards @ $2.25 each in the bundle.
All files are non-editable in zipped formats. The bundle is copyright, all rights reserved. Task cards are an ideal language learning activity, providing multi-skill language learning opportunities. These sets are ideal for a range of French language grades.
This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher.
The differentiated questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and on the focus language, for example, conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular.
I use task not only when we’re focusing on the focus language and grammar, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. The goal is not simply to learn how French works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with French, and to feel confident about doing so.
The questions are differentiated, and range in complexity and challenge, with some calling specifically upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and question formats in French.
The question card template available in some sets enables students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element to successful language learning.
To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses.
All sets have full answer keys and recording sheets.

GERMAN DAYS OF THE WEEK WORD SEARCHES

Files are non-editable in a zipped format; the product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only - please read the Terms of Use carefully.
Ideal for children learning German and beginner German students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in German, at the same time developing essential beginner German vocabulary.
The word searches are easily differentiated: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. The direction of the words are indicated by arrows at the top of the grid.
There are 5 German to German grids, with an additional English vocabulary list to complete for extra spelling and recall practice. For extra challenge, there are 5 English to German grids, with an additional German vocabulary list to complete - that’s a really effective way of consolidating vocabulary.
All the grids have a corresponding answer key, which are essential in order to maximise the learning potential of the activity. They facilitate learner independence, also giving them an additional opportunity to engage with the target language - they also genuinely enjoy assessing their own, and each others’ work. This set is in landscape format, as in my experience young beginner German students, as well as older beginner German students, really benefit from a larger font, and having the language presented in the common direction of reading in both English and German, left to right.
The word searches are really versatile in the classroom, and I use them in lots of different contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, cover lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year.
Try this German Days of the Week word search freebie - it’s in the same format as this set, so you’ll be able to see if the word searches will work well with your students:

SPANISH CONVERSATION TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS #1
ADVANCED BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH CONVERSATION TRANSLATION WORKSHEETS
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
This set of Spanish conversation translation worksheets is a companion activity to Spanish Conversation Starters 1, though it works just as well as a standalone translation exercise for***advanced beginner Spanish*** and intermediate Spanish students. The content mirrors that of the conversation starters, and really does help students consolidate and embed essential advanced beginner Spanish to intermediate Spanish language across all key language skills.
All the sentences are in question format. There are 200 translation questions in total: 100 from Spanish to English, and then repeated from English to Spanish. Translation is a specific skill that students need to work on carefully and gradually as they progress in their language learning. It’s quite common for beginner language learners to attempt to translate word for word from their first / home language, and though this will work occasionally, it frequently leads to errors.
I remind students that there can be several ways to translate correctly: the important thing is to be sure that the original intent and meaning of the question is replicated in the translation. We discuss a range of possible translations, both into Spanish and into English, as a whole-group, which is a really popular and successful language learning activity. I always include dual translation, that is from Spanish to English, and then from English to Spanish, as this really encourages students to think about language, and to be creative with it.
The questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of tenses such as preterite and conditional. I include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practicing language, but also actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning.
The translations broadly address the following themes:
= personal information
= family & routines at home
= hobbies & free time
= likes & dislikes
= local environment
= food & drink
= school & studies
= sport & healthy living
= countries & languages
= weather & seasons

GERMAN CONVERSATION STARTERS BUNDLE #1
ADVANCED BEGINNER GERMAN INTERMEDIATE GERMAN ADVANCED GERMAN CONVERSATION STARTERS @ $5.00 EACH
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
Two sets of 100 German conversation starters @ $3.25 each in the bundle
Set 1 German Conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for advanced beginner German to intermediate German students.
Set 2 German Conversation starters also features 100 starters in question format, suitable for intermediate German to advanced German students.
Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, regardless of level, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce accurately language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.
In Set 1, the questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of the present perfect tense. I include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practicing language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning.
In Set 2, the questions feature a range of tenses and moods, such as the present tense, present subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, and conditional perfect.
There are several questions focusing on wenn + subjunctive + conditional clauses, and a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, such as word order with separable verbs in various tenses, um + zu clauses and so on.
I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, regardless of student learning level, to facilitate learner progress. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning, which is just as important for more advanced learners.
Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in German. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts.
Each card has an image: some of these are specific visual prompts to help students infer meaning; some are more generic images. I do use images as much as possible with this kind of activity, not only to provide the prompt, but also to add to the visual appeal of it, which is a real motivator for learning.
I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to continue the conversation going.
Frequent and regular engagement with the activity brings the best results: with the planning sheet, students can create and prepare increasingly detailed and more complex responses, reflecting their learning progress. I definitely find it useful to read through the questions together as a whole-group, with students offering initial suggested responses. This ensures everyone can actually access the language, and they also benefit a lot from each others’ ideas.
As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards amongst your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group.
The cards work particularly well as ice-breakers at the beginning of the school year. They’re also great as both entrance and exit tickets, and also for five-minute refreshers, which I use quite frequently during the school year. In the preparation phase, having access to bilingual dictionaries and / or the internet, this can be really helpful. These tools can help them prepare detailed responses to questions in ways that do not necessarily always focus on their own life and experiences.
The starters in Set 1 broadly address the following themes:
personal information
family & routines at home
hobbies & free time
likes & dislikes
local environment
food & drink
school & studies
sport & healthy living
countries & languages
weather & seasons
The starters in Set 2 broadly address the following themes:
music, film & television literature & culture
personal life, information & preferences
leisure & free time
health & well-being
history & society
recent & current events
travel, tourism & holidays
technology & social media
likes & dislikes
local environment
environmental & social issues
education & studies

I like to have sets of super simple French vocabulary recall worksheets that my students can work on independently for both practice and revision, either in class time or for home learning. They’re really useful for embedding vocabulary, checking recall, and for reading, writing and accurate spelling in French.
These four recall worksheets focus on 25 high-frequency French verbs, and feature four differentiated recall challenges:
Challenge 1: translate and write the verbs in English from a French prompt; the French verbs are in alphabetical order
Challenge 2: translate and write the verbs in French from an English prompt; the English verbs are in alphabetical order
Challenge 3: translate and write the verbs in English from a French prompt; the French verbs are in random, rather than alphabetical order. This is really useful for vocabulary recall, as students often learn new vocabulary in alphabetical order.
Challenge 4: translate and write the verbs in French from an English prompt; the English verbs are in random, rather than alphabetical order
It’s really useful for French students to be familiar with a broad range of key French verb vocabulary, and the worksheets provide a language learning map, enabling students to move on confidently to more complex language and texts, including authentic resources. At that point students can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context, enabling them to produce more detailed and descriptive language. This is an integral element to successful language learning. The worksheets also work well as a vocabulary audit and enrichment.
I give my students this French verbs list both as an answer key for independent checking, and as a reference resource - download it for free here:

Perfect for developing Spanish language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising numbers 0-21 in Spanish. There are 12 differentiated questions, with answer key and recording sheet. The cards are numbered A-L, so you can easily use these with the set of 48 task cards, making a total of 60 cards.
Task cards are an ideal language learning activity, perfect for multi-skill language learning: listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities.
All the questions are in Spanish, including a range of Spanish math language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use math symbols as visual clues and prompts, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. Depending on the particular group, I may read through the questions together as a whole-group first. I really try to make the most of the task cards too - for example, with multiple-choice questions, I ask students how they have arrived at the correct response, and what is wrong with the other responses. Being able to identify errors is a key language learning skill, and it’s useful for students to begin to develop that from the very beginning of their learning.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format:
12 differentiated question cards 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they cards are far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years.

Spanish Numbers 0-31 Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of Spanish numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher.
The questions and responses have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner Spanish students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Spanish.
The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Spanish Numbers 0-31, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in Spanish, but also to enjoy working with Spanish, and to feel confident about doing so.
All questions are in Spanish, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as math symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on Spanish math language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of math is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning.
I’ve labelled the cards A-L, so that if you have the set of 48 task cards, you can use them together.

Games with goals: these French fruits and vegetables bingo games are ideal for young beginner French learners.
This bundle features two sets of bingo games, with 12 fruits and 12 vegetables in masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms respectively. The games are ideal for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills in French, as well as learning key beginner French vocabulary.
There are 360 bingo grids and 80 calling cards in this bundle, everything you need for lots of games with all your students. All the grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game, and depending on the size of your class, there can be several winners per game. The grids with pictures are in both colour and BW: colour looks great, and I laminate these for class, using them with wipe-clean pens so that they can be recycled for years. The BW versions work really well for quick games - print and go!
Each set features 12 fruits and 12 vegetables respectively, and I’ve found this to be a reasonable and manageable number for young learners.
The fruits are:
green apple : lemon : oranges : peach : raspberries : pineapple : kiwi : pear : bananas : green grapes : strawberry : watermelon
The vegetables are:
mushrooms : cauliflower : carrots : lettuce : cucumber : tomato : cabbage : potatoes : garlic : broccoli : peas : onions
I have folders ready with lots of different bingo grids in them, so that they are good to grab and go whenever students select them, or I decide it’s time for a quick practice and refresh session. I distribute the grids in a variety of ways, for example students get a random selection of pages, and they select the order of grids they play from. Students can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables, and then select individual grids randomly.
Each set includes the following non-editable files:
= 40 picture-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). I give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl.
= 40 French word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - perfect for improving listening skills and great for quick translation when using the English, rather than French, calling cards.
= 40 English word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - I use these with the French calling cards, it’s great practice in both listening and vocabulary recall.
= 40 mixed French words, English words and pictures 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - these are ideal for multi-skill language learning, with students using all their French knowledge at once. I use the French calling cards for these grids.

I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of French, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image.
The worksheet is useful for consolidating both vegetables vocabulary and spelling in French, and students really enjoy testing their recall. This kind of worksheet is really versatile: I use for sub lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities.
There are two versions to choose from - color, which makes the worksheet really visually appealing, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to color as they read aloud, write and practice their French vegetables.
The vegetables are:
the artichoke
the asparagus
the aubergine
the beetroot
the broccoli
the cabbage
the carrots
the cauliflower
the garlic
the leek
the lettuce
the mushrooms
the onions
the peas
the pepper
the potatoes
the spinach
the sweetcorn
the tomato

I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of French, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image.
The worksheet is useful for consolidating both French fruits vocabulary and spelling, and students really enjoy testing their recall. This kind of worksheet is really versatile: I use for sub lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities.
There are two versions to choose from - color, which makes the worksheet really visually appealing, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to color as they read aloud, write and practice their French fruits.
The fruits are:
the apples
the bananas
the cherries
the fig
the grapes
the lemon
the mango
the nectarine
the olives
the orange
the papaya
the peach
the pear
the pineapple
the pumpkins
the raspberry
the rhubarb
the starfruit
the strawberries
the watermelon

SPANISH CONJUNCTIONS LIST FREEBIE #1
BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH CONJUNCTIONS & CONNECTIVES LIST LAS CONJUNCIONES EN ESPAÑOL
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license is a single-user license only. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply.
Ideal reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency Spanish conjunctions and connectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner Spanish to intermediate Spanish learning programmes, and useful for students beginning advanced Spanish as a vocabulary audit.
It’s an important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in their first / home language, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences and texts as soon as possible.
Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Spanish vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory.
There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource.
The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on high-frequency Spanish conjunctions for your students, the list is a good starting point.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I tend to use for Spanish vocabulary display or Spanish grammar display, and plain.

Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge.
The focus is on key beginner French vocabulary:
= les jours de la semaine : the days of the week
= les mois et les saisons de l’année : months & seasons of the year
In each set, there are 5 French to French grids, where students are prompted with French words, and look for them in French in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test.
There are also 5 English to French grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the French equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in French, they also complete the French word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid.
There is an answer key for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right in English and French, facilitating learner engagement with the word searches.
Use for sub lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re introducing this particular target language in French.
Have a browse in my store for more French word searches, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies - I’ve included a couple here for you to try.

Ideal for Primary French Immersion and beginner French students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in French, at the same time developing essential beginner French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated too: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows.
There are 5 French to French grids, with an additional number vocabulary list to complete for extra spelling practice. I always create English to French grids too - that’s an effective way of consolidating vocabulary, and there’s a vocabulary list to complete too.
All the grids have a corresponding answer key, which is essential in order to maximize the learning potential of the activity. Answer keys facilitate learner independence, also giving them an additional opportunity to engage with the target language - they also genuinely enjoy assessing their own, and each others’ work.
This set is in landscape format, as in my experience young beginner French students, as well as older beginner French students, really benefit from a larger font, and having the language presented in the common direction of reading in both English and French, left to right.
The word searches are really versatile in the classroom, and I use them in lots of different contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year.
Try this French fruits word searches freebie - they’re in the same format as this set, so you’ll be able to see whether this kind of activity would work well for your learners:
