This full lesson PowerPoint is designed to teach Year 7 students about the names and uses of Scientific equipment, plus how they are drawn and labelled in scientific diagrams.
This is the first in a series of three lessons I have planned which focus solely on teaching students about the basics of safe and accurate practical work. Visit my shop to find the other lessons in this series:
Year 7 Measuring Skills
Year 7 Bunsen Burners
Plus a whole catalogue of other KS3 Science and KS4 Chemistry lessons.
PowerPoint sufficient to teach the GCSE 9-1 specification Chemistry lessons on Condensation Polymerisation. Consistent with the Chemistry specification, this lesson focuses mainly on drawing and understanding esterification between single carboxylic acid and alcohol molecules, rather than polymer chains. However, it does extend to encompass formation of polyesters for high-end students.
The resource is accessible for students, easy for teachers to follow and is appropriate for TRIPLE SCIENCE ONLY, HIGHER TIER ONLY. Best taught after completing my lesson SC22a on “Alkenes and Homologous Series”, which provides an intro to the structures of carboxylic acids and alcohols.
**For one of the final summary tasks, you will need to get hold of Pearson Edexcel worksheet SC24c.2 “Monomers and Polymers”. Failing this, you could use slides 10 & 11 to prepare your own card sort which would substitute for the worksheet. Students’ progress can also be assessed simply using the yellow and pink box tasks on slide 9.
