**Trick or Treat Halloween Mapping lesson! **
A very well planned, fun and engaging Halloween mapping lesson perfect for Geography, maths or anyone else wanting some educational Halloween fun!
Students have to plan a route around a town for a group or trick or treaters using compass, scale and map skills to calcuate distance, direction and place.
The lesson has a full mapping guide/how-to so can easily be taught by a none-specialist and equally, can be used with students who don´t know how to map read. There are clear objectives, tasks and extensions in the lesson. The lesson should take around 1hr - 1.30hr depending on group ability and the speed that the map guide is explained. A well planned and really fun Geography Christmas mapping lesson suitable for all ages at secondary and all abilities that uses lots of Geographical skills!
This lesson contains a full walk through on how to use a compass, scale and map so can easily be taught by non-specialists and supports students who might struggle by using examples.
Task 1: Reading directions on a map. Students use a world map to note down which direction Santa is travelling as he moves from country to country.
**Task 2: **Reading scale on a map. Students use the scale to measure the distances Santa has travelled.
**Task 3: **Plotting Santa´s journey across the world. Students measure direction and distance and plot Santa´s movements on the map, revealing a hidden message if they do it correctly… XMas!

This SoW is an online/booklet based scheme of work that would work best if learners have access to the internet. However, the SoW still functions very well as a printed document as most of the required content is included in the lessons though one or two lessons require internet for research or to watch some of the educational videos included as links.
The SoW consists of a well planned lessons and resources (12 lessons) that could work as either a KS3/KS4 Geography Scheme of Work on Plate tectonics and tectonic hazards (volcanos, earthquakes and tsunamis). The SoW:
An awesome scheme of work on global biomes and ecosystems that investigates climates, landscapes and the animals and people that are adapted to them! The scheme of work is for KS3 geography and includes introductory lessons on foodwebs, habitats, foodchains and more.
