The lesson has a focus on the short term and longer term wider consequences of the Black Death. The main task is for students to identify these consequences and then analyse them. There is then a variety of optional tasks such as a creative writing task, extended writing task and additional challenge questions for the students to discuss and complete. The main groups the lesson will focus on are: the Vikings; the Normans; migrants from the Low Countries, Lombardy and Jewish migration. Students can easily see the whole topic on one sheet and use this to begin their revision and use the diagram as a checklist. Student feedback has suggested that more able students liked how the diagram acted as an effective starting point for revision whereas weaker students liked how the diagram made revision for the topic seem more manageable.
