Food tests

(0)
The lesson looks at investigating the standard food tests for: starch, protein, sugar, fat. The lesson if for the higher ability students. The lesson tests student's understanding with an exam question before an exit ticket concludes learning.
Plant structure and adaptations

Plant structure and adaptations

(0)
The lesson start by looking at variety in plants, this case study in the venus fly trap. There is then a hinge point question to decide the starting point for the SOLO taxonomy task; this starts with basic key word match up and finishes with adaptations of cacti and stomata. This includes both the ppt and the SOLO work sheet.
Force and Energy lesson 16 - energy transfer
ScienceMasteryScienceMastery

Force and Energy lesson 16 - energy transfer

(0)
The lesson starts by explain the law of thermodynamics before the student experiment with a series of mini-activities and identify the energy transfer happening within them. The learning is assess via a hinge point question before a differentiated activity. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket.

CB6c-d - transpiration, osmosis and translocation

(0)
The lesson begins with some recall question on the previous lesson. The topic is introduced before the students attempt an independent task based on 5 stations where they engage in a Solo taxonomy style task. The lesson concludes with exam questions and mark scheme.
Forces and Energy lesson 9 - magnetic fields
ScienceMasteryScienceMastery

Forces and Energy lesson 9 - magnetic fields

(1)
The lessons starts by reviewing previous learning in the topic. It then moves on to a SOLO taxonomy task (not labelled as solo) with 5 separate tasks of increasing difficulty. Two tasks within are practical. The lesson concludes with an exit tick and a review of LO.
Forces and Energy Knowledge organiser
ScienceMasteryScienceMastery

Forces and Energy Knowledge organiser

(0)
The knowledge organiser comprises of the key information need for a student to be successful in this first half of the course. On the reverse of the KO there are progress focused questions, either to strengthen understanding or extend thinking.

Speed distance time: Applied worksheets

(0)
Here are 4 differentiated worksheets on speed distance time. Bronze worksheet: very basic unit and number manipulation in a scaffold-ed table. Silver worksheet: harder question than bronze yet still within a table structure. Gold worksheet: harder questions than silver with a more open style. Purple worksheet: Exam style open ended questions
Enzymes - amylase and experiment

Enzymes - amylase and experiment

(0)
The lesson starts by getting student to make the link between amylase and sugar. Three Key definitions are reviewed before a table and colour scale is given out. The students then experiment with amylase, the method made clear. They then demonstrate their understanding with a graph before reviewing learning with and exit ticket.
Resultant force - Lesson 11: Forces and Energy

Resultant force - Lesson 11: Forces and Energy

(0)
The lesson start by looking at the Apollo 8 rocket taking off and introduces the huge unbalanced forces at play. The teacher then lead with a series of images of scuba divers an gives an opportunity to question the class. The lesson builds to start including numbers so the student can calculate the resultant force before the students construct meaning using a simple worksheet on force diagrams. The lesson concludes with a detailed exit ticket.
Forces and Energy Lesson 8 - Magnetism
ScienceMasteryScienceMastery

Forces and Energy Lesson 8 - Magnetism

(0)
The lesson starts with a wordsearch based on previous learning. Via a video and target questioning the history of magnetism is briefly visited. The lesson then moves to a learning through doing practical task involving defining the key words. There is then a selection of questions about magnets with a HOTS purple questing included. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket.
Forces and Energy Lesson 4 - measuring friction

Forces and Energy Lesson 4 - measuring friction

(0)
The lesson is aimed at early KS3 and is based on Edexcel GCSE spec. The Do it Now task is a review and identification of forces that should have been learned in previous lessons. The experiment is then demonstrated for the students before the students get the chance to perform and record their own results in a differentiated results table (one just has to have numbers recorded the other as place to work out averages for more mathematically able students. The students are then required to draw a graph, this is extensively modelled for them to ensure that it is achievable but yet challenging. The lesson concludes with a Cloze exit ticket.
Forces and Energy lesson 15 - potential energy
ScienceMasteryScienceMastery

Forces and Energy lesson 15 - potential energy

(0)
The lesson starts by reviewing previous learning with the knowledge organiser. The lesson then moves to discuss the 3 potential energies before the students attempt a pyramid of differentiated tasks. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket.
