A lesson aimed at AQA Islam Practices (Y10). Looking at Ramadan and Sawm. Students create an information leaflet to give to non-muslims to support them during Ramadan. Discussion points focus on the image of Mo Salah “breaking” his fast during the Champions League Final. 5 mark exam question with model answer.

I can describe the differences between a healthy and unhealthy relationship I can explain how unhealthy relationships can impact our self-esteem Aimed at KS3, particularly Year 7. Lesson is 100 minutes long. Lesson doesn’t require any printing so is suitable for non-specialists and online learning.

This is a resource I will be using to give students alongside their mock exam paper (AQA but easily adapted for other exam boards). The top of the proforma is for students to analyse the questions of the themes paper. There is then a PLC for the whole exam- including Christianity, Islam, Themes B, D, E and F. This will be used for the mock feedback lesson before class revision begins.

A new unit of work using the PSHE association mapping structure for the new 2020 Relationship, Sex and Health Education area. This unit is aimed at Year 7. But suitable for any KS3 group. Lesson 7 looks at students considering the ingredients to a healthy relationship. Students then decide on dealbreakers, and touch on domestic violence (aimed at Year 7 so didn’t want to make it too much).

Aimed at Paper 2 AQA Rights & Responsibilities GCSE Citizenship. This lesson looks at what a youth court is, how they are different to an adult court. This doesn’t look at sentencing as this is covered in a later lesson. The lesson look at the Bulger case.

A lesson which looks at safety in the home with an emphasis on medicine. I asked staff to bring in some medicine boxes, and we used them as a market place activity. Life in Modern Britain Lesson 7. This lesson looks at how the press are handled in countries such as China, Russia and North Korea. The lesson focuses on the World Press Freedom Index and considers the impact of the Charlie Hebdo event in France and if this should impact on religious freedom. Progress/Progress+ tasks are given throughout to provide differentiation and challenge. Issues of censorship, regulation and free press are considered.
