This component plan forms a basic scheme of work for a half term of study on Buddhism. It includes the focuses on each lesson, general links to the overall objective of learning for the key stage (it is Y8 I have devised if for but this can be edited) and includes keywords for the topic to promote tier 2 and 3 vocabulary. This PPT seeks to view the different types of Utilitarianism (other then Act and Rule). It includes: Preference Negative Ideal And it also includes philosopher bios and evaluation of the theories as well as relevant AO2 focussed tasks. Goes well with my other Utilitarian resource.

This is a thorough run through of the theories of Bentham and Mill (Act and Rule Utilitarianism). It includes the hedonic calculus and comes with an application sheet aimed to show the pupils how to apply it to real life situations. I ask my pupils to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the hedonic calculus as they find it takes a long time to complete when they do it properly! This goes well with the ‘other types of utilitarianism’ which can be bought separately or in a bundle, depending on the needs of the customer. Enjoy!

This is a 3 part activity which aims to help pupils understand the keywords, meanings and examples of aims of punishment. Included are model answers and would be most appropriate for GCSE level, but could be adapted for A level or KS3.

A comprehensive PPT, relevant to all Meta Ethics/Ethical Language units, which seeks to help pupils understand the importance of the discussion surrounding the use of the words in ethics. The learning objective for this lesson is 'is ethical language meaningless?'. The PPT is aimed at middle to high ability and can be run over a series of lessons alongside other material in text books etc.

This lesson is designed for a short look at the concept of violence and can be used alongside my other lesson on 'what makes people go wrong?'. This has been a helpful lesson over the years and stimulates creative ideas from pupils as it is aimed for this function.
