WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION SIMPLIFYING EXPRESSIONS VIA PERIMETER

(0)
Lesson 2 in a series of lessons on simplifying expressions. This is a classic scenario where students are asked to find an expression for the perimeter of a shape. The powerpoint walks the students around the shapes and writes out the expression as we go. The fully differentiated resource allows students to write on the sheet (no need for drawing the shapes). One star is very basic with all sides having simple expressions. Two and three star have multi-term expressions on the edges and the rectangles have only the length and breadth shown. Answers not included.

5 FOUNDATION MOCK EXAMINATION/REVISION PAPERS ON 2 PIECES OF A4

(0)
Five assessments that I use to help prepare foundation students (or younger students) for end of year assessments. Based on old GCSE foundation papers the assessments cover all of the content of the GCSE (around 20 questions in each). They are printed on 8 sheets of A4 which I copy onto an A5 booklet, hence using only 2 sheets of paper and saving a lot of paper. Great for use at extra sessions, as homeworks, as class revision, or for filler lessons for absent staff. I have included a powerpoint of the first assessment so you can see what they look like.

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION DIVISION OF QUANTITY IN A RATIO

(0)
Whole lesson to low ability students on division in a ratio. The powerpoint contains several ways of teaching the topic but the resource that accompanies it goes with the traditional ADAM method (add, divide and multiply). The resource is fully differentiated and provides a lot of support with no context at 1 star, going through to fully contextualised questions with no support at 3 star. There is a multi choice homework that accompanies the lesson also.

A2 MATHEMATICS: APPLICATIONS OF IMPLICIT DIFFERENTIATION

(0)
Complete lesson which builds upon the introduction. Students will be shown how to use their expressions for the derivative function to find stationary points, name tangents and normals. The resource is fully differentiated, contains an exam question and a challenge. Answers are included.
QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 33 & 34

QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 33 & 34

(0)
This is a write-on resource which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid. The powerpoint on the review is to show you what it will look like when printed.
RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO

RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO

(0)
18 random bingo cards with one guarateed winner. Play the powerpoint (which has two levels with answers that are common) and keep a note of which ratios have been given. These are simple, unit free ratios that involve dividing both numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5 10, 100. Great way to finish a lesson on simplification of ratio
WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON

(0)
This is a flexible lesson on the interior angle sum of an n-gon. The starter is a simple multi choice on estimation of angle size which will help warm the class up. The powerpoint contains both classic ways of teaching this subject: the first few slides come at this from the formula exterior angle = 360 divided by the number of sides when the polygon is regular. The latter slides approach it in a more traditional experimental manner of splitting the polygon into n- 2 triangles. How you deliver the lesson is therefore up to you! The spreadsheet contains multiple activities, most of them differentiated and a print out of a table of facts that students can stick in their books. Most of the resources are write on also so there is no need for students to draw a thing. This should be all you need to tackle this topic
WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES

(0)
An entire lesson that gets students to appreciate the different types of angle and estimate their size. The starter is a simple (differentiated) number chain. The power point is fully animated to show how an angle spins around from 0 degrees, passing the key benchmarks of 90, 180 and 270. Students can then estimate the angle. The fully differentiated resource that accompanies this lesson mirrors the board and gives students plenty of support. As this is an activity some students will fly through I have included some bonus differentiated number practise as this will primarily be aimed at foundatio GCSE students who always need the practise!
INTEGRATION BY PARTS INTRODUCTION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

INTEGRATION BY PARTS INTRODUCTION

(0)
An entire lesson that introduces students to this vital integration technique. It is approached via an easy way of remembering how to split the integral (the way I myself was taught it many years ago). The resources that accompanies the lesson is differentiated on two levels and takes students through basic examples. There are no answers as students are encouraged to check their own answers. There is an exam question and a challenge question
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 22 Transform Curve
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 22 Transform Curve

(0)
One of the topics students find most challenging. The fully animated powerpoint (which contains a 5 minute starte) takes students through the basic transformations of the curve y = f(x). There is a slide which summarises the findings of the lesson and the resource that accompanies the lesson is fully differentiated where students skecth various transformations of given curves and write the names of transformed curves. The resource is write on and students can file their completed work. This lesson can also be used at KS4.
Year 12 A level Mathematics Interim Assessment 2
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

Year 12 A level Mathematics Interim Assessment 2

(0)
This is the second interim assessment which can be given to any class embarking on the new a level spec from 2017 with the Edexcel board. It covers the topics of surds, completing the square and its uses, sketching quadratic curves, linear and quadratic inequalities, algebraic division, factor theorem and sketching a straight line. The assessment itself will last an hour and there is a follow up lesson where students can tackle similar questions. The powerpoint acts as a marck scheme and can be used to assess the piece of work. It can also be played during the feedback lesson to model correct answers for students. Printing it will give students a chance to have a model solution pack to their assessment.
WHOLE LESSON: USES OF NEGATIVE NUMBER
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: USES OF NEGATIVE NUMBER

(0)
A lesson to introduce negative number and where they arise. The starter is a differentiated student choice mental addition and subtraction exercise where students must work out the missing number in a chain that gives a certain total. The answers are shown on this. The main powerpoint shows an animated use of a number line as a thermometer but also as a height indicator and as profit and loss. The spreadsheet contains multiple resources which you can chose, many of which are differentiated and all of which are write-on so that students do not have to spend tim drawing things
WHOLE LESSON COINS AND TOTALS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON COINS AND TOTALS

(0)
A simple but effective lesson designed to brush up on students basic addition and subtraction skills under the backdrop of money. This is based on the old SATS questions where students would be asked to make different combinations of coins that gave a certain total. The powerpoint contains a variety of questions and then the resource has multiple tasks on different sheets that you can use to differentiate. Some are interactive and will change by pressing F9 on the sheet, thus creating an infinite amount of variations. Surprisingly challenging and always relevant.
CONDITIONAL PROBABILITY LESSON 2

CONDITIONAL PROBABILITY LESSON 2

(0)
More theoretical approach to conditional probability. Use of the formulae and axioms. Full animated demo. Fully differentiated resource for students to complete. Full solutions.
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION DECIMAL BY DECIMAL MULTIPLICATION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION DECIMAL BY DECIMAL MULTIPLICATION

(0)
Complete lesson to show foundation students how to calculate 0.2 x 0.05 mentally. The powerpoint shows the method of counting decimal places in the questions and then making sure that the answer contains the same number of dp. The fully differentiated write-on resource goes from 1 to 4 star and students can select their own level. Answers not included
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION DECIMAL BY DECIMAL DIVISION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION DECIMAL BY DECIMAL DIVISION

(0)
Complete lesson on calculations such as 0.3 shared by 0.05. The powerpoint likens the calculations to equivalent fractions and students are encouraged to keep multiplying by 10 until the denominator becomes an integer. The fully differentiated write-on resource allows students to work from one star to four star. Answers not included.
