Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: ROUNDING TO NEAREST 10,100,1000

(0)
An entire lesson for any student starting to round a number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000. The starter is 10 simple questions which are true or false (5 minutes). The powerpoint takes the students through the method of rounding a number of any size to the nearest 10,100 or 1000. The resource that accompanies the lesson is a fully differentiated book (1 star:supported to 3 star: no help needed) which students can write on.
WHOLE LESSON: ONE AS A FRACTION OF ANOTHER
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: ONE AS A FRACTION OF ANOTHER

(0)
Complete lesson on the concept of writing one quantity as a fraction of another. For example, in a room of 20 students, 8 of them wear glasses: write the glasses wearers as a fraction of the room. There is a starter which can be used in your other lessons as it is 10 questions of a general GCSE grade 3 level. The powerpoint takes the students through the procedure and then there is a differentiated resource which students can write on. There is also extension material which require more thinking about the selection of the numbers. There is also a matching puzzle with the questions in the top half and the answers in the bottom.

Year 12 A level Maths Interim Assessment 1

(1)
This is an interim assessment which can be given to any class embarking on the new a level spec from 2017. It covers the topics of basic algebra, surds, index theory and quadratic equations. The assessment itself will last an hour and there is a follow up lesson where students can tackle similar questions. The powerpoint acts as a marck scheme and can be used to assess the piece of work. It can also be played during the feedback lesson to model correct answers for students. Printing it will give students a chance to have a model solution pack to their assessment.
WHOLE LESSON: EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS

(0)
This is a whole lesson on creating a fraction equivalent to a given fraction. The lesson starter is 10 general questions on grade 1/2 mathematics. The lesson powerpoint takes students through the concept of how a fraction can be "disguised" so that it looks completely different but yet has the same value. The differentiated resource allows students to write their answers on it. There is also a code breaker which will challenge students.

WEEK'S WORTH OF DAILY FOUNDATION MATHS STARTERS (WEEK 1)

(0)
Five 10-minute powerpoints to review what your students can recall from the very basics of the subject. Multi-choice so that every student can take part and answers are displayed at the end. Topics covered include basic number work, rounding, fraction/decimal/percentage, area, units, mode, shape names and many more
FULL LESSON FOUNDATION GCSE: STARTER EQUATIONS (LETTERS BOTH SIDES)
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

FULL LESSON FOUNDATION GCSE: STARTER EQUATIONS (LETTERS BOTH SIDES)

(0)
The first lesson for low ability KS3 or 4 students where we introduce them to solving equations of the type 2x + 3 = x + 9. The powerpoint is animated and uses the classic balance pan approach or a more dynamic “zapping” approach. The fully differentiated resource goes from 1 star (diagrams drawn for students and they simply scribble over the x counters and number counters) through to 3 star where students will attempt to solve using only manipulation. The resource is printed so that students can write on, thus saving time. Note that answers are not included and that there are no negative x terms in the equation (that would be next lesson). A lesson checkout is included where students can be quizzed on what they have done in the lesson.
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION SIMILAR FIGURES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION SIMILAR FIGURES

(0)
An entire lesson teaching foundation students how to find missing sides on a pair of similar figures. Powerpoint takes students through the theory and then the fully differentiated, write-on resource can let students chose to practise at the level they feel most confident in. The answers are mainly integers and scale factors of 1.5 or 2.5 and so the lesson can be done without a calculator. Answers not included.

WEEK'S WORTH OF DAILY FOUNDATION MATHS STARTERS (WEEK 2)

5 powerpoints, each of 10 questions which cover all of the basics any student should know in maths: place value, simple percentages, rounding, BIDMAS, area and perimeter by counting, mode and many more. Multi-choice so everybody can have a go and the answers are shown as well. Each one, with class discussions on each question, can take from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. I start all of my Foundation GCSE and younger classes with these.

EDEXCEL OLD SPEC CORE 2 REVISION GRID A

(0)
A quick revision sheet for any student on the legacy course for Edexcel A Level Maths. There are 12 questions that cover pretty much all of the module. Students should be able to answer these quick-fire questions in about 20 minutes if they are ready to tackle the Core2 examination. The powerpoint plays model solutions and can be mailed to students to help them assess their work. Ideal for any student re-sitting from last year
WHOLE LESSON PRIME FACTOR DECOMPOSITION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON PRIME FACTOR DECOMPOSITION

(1)
An entire lesson on the often examined topic of product of primes. The powerpoint introduces prime numbers and then goes onto using the tree method to write a whole number as a product of primes. The resources is fully differentiated using a star system and students can write on the resource, ensuring that their work is neat and easy to assess.
2 WHOLE LESSONS: Interior angle sum of triangle

2 WHOLE LESSONS: Interior angle sum of triangle

(1)
This is really two lessons in one. I use it over two successive lessons. The first lesson covers basic angle sum of a triangle and the second the special case of the isosceles triangle. The starter gets students to estimate 10 angles and then the powerpoint takes students through how to calculate the missing angle in a diagram. The resource contains two booklets that can be printed off in booklet form for the students to write on....thus no time wasted drawing diagrams. The numbers are normally multiples of 5 and so this can be done mentally
