A series of paper 1 style exemplars that students must punctuate correctly. Ideal preparation work in the run up to exams as it models good examples of creative writing whilst promoting proof reading and active reading strategies that will boost their AO6 SPaG mark.
They are all reasonably challenging, and are designed for Level 5 and above (C and above) students.
I find that they serve 2 purposes: they keep a student's proof reading skills sharp (essential, in my view, to get a good mark on the SPaG component of the writing task) whilst also modelling strong creative writing skills (I often use these activities as a foundation for detailed discussions about the strengths and weaknesses of the writing). I have found, particularly with top sets, that modelling the style of the writing in this way dramatically improves the content and sophistication of their creative writing.
Useful, no fuss worksheets that you can just print off and use straight away. Ideal bit of revision and skills building for the Section B writing section of the new specification GCSE language paper.

Full lessons preparing students for the writing task on the new AQA Language paper 2 - writing to present a viewpoint. I am already finding that students' writing is often quite 'pedestrian' and lacking in passion and enthusiasm. These lessons try and access the 'inner voice' the writer in order to guide students to a more passionate and enthusiastic method of writing.
The PowerPoint also contains a large bank of exam style 'provocative statements' for you to draw on and use with your students in a number of different ways (creative ideas for how best to use the statements is also included in the PowerPoint). This is ideal for developing persuasive and argumentative skills.
Brief breakdown:
* Students consider topics they care or are passionate about and create mini speeches around this
* Consider what makes a passionate speech and how we can import this into our writing
* Introduce students to DARCFOREST - a system of rhetorical techniques students can apply in their own writing (complete with modelled sentences)
* Students apply these skills in their own writing
* Huge bank of provocative statements as you would find them in the AQA paper 2 exam for students to consider, explore and respond to.
* Detailed learning review at the end
At least 2 lessons worth, range of speaking and listening and active learning contained within the PowerPoint. Also, lesson deals with lots of real life issues so there is a PSHE/ Personal development angle to the lessons too.
All there, ready to roll, enjoy! 35 slides jam packed with content. Feedback welcomed to help further improve all resources.
This is part of a full revision/writing skills scheme for paper 2, which is purchasable as a bundle.

Here I have a short exam unit which is basically a mock exam for the Drama: Performance and response exam unit for the new OCR Drama GCSE, alongside a revision mat/knowledge organiser.
I have used the specimen paper that is on the OCR website to ensure that the structure and outline of this paper is correct (although the questions on this one are obviously different, so you can use both as mocks).
For each question, there are tips and guidance about how best to tackle the question to gain maximum marks, using language from the mark scheme to help students understand what is required of them for each question.
For revision, I've also included a GCSE revision mat, explaining each of the study areas along with suggested tasks to support further study and revision at home.
Hopefully this will be useful as we all embark on the uncharted territory that is the new Drama exam! I've found that my students have really appreciated the opportunity to have the questions, and the style of response required, explained to them in this manner.

This is a 27 page, fully loaded revision, study and comprehension resource for Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’.
This has been written with the latest AQA (9-1) English Literature specification in mind, but I’m sure this would work equally well with other exam boards. I’ve tried to make this revision guide as active as possible, so there are lots of activities and tasks for students to do as they work through the booklet. There’s a good balance of information and engaging tasks for students to work through.
This is an ideal companion to the ‘Jekyll and Hyde Exam Questions’ resource I have created (both resources are available together as a discounted bundle, available here
Contents of this guide run as follows:
* Visual summary of plot
* Storyboard task for students to then recall the plot and key events from memory
* Context (students explore key issues raised in the novella such as poverty, attitudes towards women, science vs religion, Darwinism etc by making connections between these issues and events in the novella)
* Key Quotes - Students explore key quotes through analysis of their meaning and significance, quotes are broken down chapter by chapter and provide thematic links etc.

Complete Punctuation and SPaG scheme of work for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. It’s time to win the battle against poor grammar and punctuation once and for all!
Complete unit of work which will allow your students to master advanced punctuation as well as engage with a range of exciting creative writing tasks. If you are anything like me, explicit teaching/reminding of how to properly apply punctuation is ESSENTIAL for all ability ranges, especially with the new specification GCSE placing so much emphasis on AO6.
These lessons are certainly geared more towards KS3 and KS4 students. Powerpoints are light hearted and fun, with plenty of images/colour and silly jokes to keep your students engaged and entertained. I’ve found these lessons serve as an excellent ‘crash course’ in punctuation either at the beginning of the academic year or in the run up to the GCSE exams. Below is a list of contents:
Commas (£2 if purchased on its own) -
Commas powerpoint lessons
Commas in a list worksheet
Commas in a complex sentences worksheet
Colons (£2 if purchased on its own) -
Colon powerpoint lessons
Mastering colons worksheet
Semi-Colons (£2 if purchased on its own)-
Semi-colon lesson powerpoints
Semi-colon worksheets (x2)
Semi-colon writing success criteria worksheet
Speech- (£2 if purchased on its own)
Speech powerpoint lessons
Speech worksheet
Speech mixed practice worksheet
Writing success criteria worksheet
Editing and proof reading - (£3 if purchased on its own)
Editing and proof reading mini scheme powerpoint (nearly 50 slides)
Editing and proof reading worksheets (£2 if purchased separately)
A wide range of proof reading worksheets that you can use to consolidate and improve your student’s SPaG and proof reading abilities after you have finished the unit of work.
This unit would suit a range of abilities as there is lots of scope for stretch and challenge, with ambitious success criteria and extension tasks built in throughout. Scaffolding and differentiation options are built in where appropriate.
Fully resourced and ready to roll, minimal adaptation or tweaking required.
This is obviously a SPaG/Punctuation scheme of work, but it is equally focused on creative/descriptive writing too. Much of the content is therefore ideal for teaching general creative writing skills or preparing for the fiction writing task on the new specification (9-1) GCSE English Language exam.
Grab a bargain compared to buying these resources separately.

This is a fully resourced lesson about using colons. Available as part of a punctuation and SPaG scheme of work here. Lessons are ideal for KS3 and KS4 students with a fun and light-hearted feel. Could also be taught to higher ability KS2 students.

This booklet contains over 16 exam style questions based on all the key extracts from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Exam questions are worded in accordance with the latest GCSE 9-1 specification.
Whilst I created this resource with AQA in mind, I’m sure this would prove useful for other exam boards too. Extracts are in chronological order, so students also revise plot and the development of themes/ideas as they tackle the questions. Each question is unique, meaning that the study guide covers all the major themes, events and characters in the novel.
Ideal for all teachers as there are (obviously) very few past papers for the new specification. I reckon I’ve predicted a few future exam questions here!
Visual aids for each stave, and for certain extracts, are provided to help remind students of key events. There’s also lots of exam tips to help students produce more effective exam responses, containing content and analysis that examiners are specifically looking for. My students have found the booklets very useful as it has allowed them to tackle a range of exam questions at home, meaning they feel prepared for the real thing.
Ready to roll, everything a student needs to revise for the exam and boost their confidence in the run up to the exam. Little/no adaptation required. Enjoy!

Also available as a great value scheme of work here!
If you are anything like me, you probably realise that just because students get into KS3 (and even KS4), it doesn’t automatically mean they know how to use punctuation properly, especially commas.
This is a complete PowerPoint of thoroughly planned lessons which are designed to allow students to truly master the comma and its complex uses. The activities are lively and engaging, and the PowerPoint has a fun and relevant feel to it (using memes, cracking jokes etc) so that the idea of learning about commas (again) doesn’t feel childish or lame to them.
As a minimum, you have 2 lessons worth of work here, closer to 4 if you decide to do the writing tasks thoroughly. To accompany the PowerPoint, there are two worksheets which tie in nicely to the PowerPoint and allow students to put into practice what they are being taught.
I’m guessing this is probably going to suit lower to middle ability students: those on the border who tend to really struggle with SPaG and literacy. That said, I’ve often found it necessary to do the 2nd lesson (on subordinate clauses and very complex sentences) with my top sets too.
Absolutely ready to roll and fully resourced. Very little adaptation or tweaking required as scaffolding and extension tasks are built in. Enjoy!
