Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support.
What’s it for?
This activity set has been designed to practise and reinforce the first six sounds in Phase 2 - s a t p i n. Learners match pictures and sounds (as puzzles) to complete images and make a simple words to read. Learners can then use these completed puzzles to fill out missing words in sentences (either separate sentences or all sentences on one sheet) to complete, then read whole (simple) sentences.
All words on the ‘picture puzzles’ only use the sounds ‘s a t p i n’.
Phase 2, set 2 (sounds m d g o c k) is also available (in same design) in my TES shop if you like this one.
How to use it?
Picture/word puzzles
Pages 1 and 2
An adult cuts out the x9 puzzle shapes following dotted lines. The segments of all x9 ‘picture/word puzzles’ can then be shuffled and placed on a table top for learners to match.
Once the segments of each picture/word puzzle are completed each of the x9 words can be read. The completed ‘picture puzzles’ can be used as a reference to complete the missing words for x9 sentences (pages 3-5).
Writing words/reading sentences
Pages 3-6
There are two versions of the same x9 sentences to complete, each has a missing word with a clear space for each of the missing letters (graphemes) to be written. A larger format version of the sentences set out individually (pages 3 and 4) which can be cut up (perhaps laminated) and written on (if laminated - with a dry wipe/wipe clean pen).
The smaller scale version (page 5) has the same x9 sentences but all on one page for learners to complete with a pencil, as a ‘worksheet’.
Answers are included on page 6 in the same format which learners can use for quick, easy reference.

This resource features a large clock face with line indications of where the clock numbers should be placed (but not in which order). The numbers to 12 are positioned below the clock face - ready to cut out (with dotted lines to guide cutting). There is one extension question - which involves cutting out the ‘hour’ and ‘minute’ hands (at the top of page 2) and placing these on the completed clock face to show ‘3 o’clock’. x20 landscape orientation pdf sheets for all Phase 2 phonics sounds. There are x4 sets, each with x3 sheets with x6/x5 cards to cut out plus an answer sheet for every set.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for Early Years children, pupils in Year 1 who are just learning these sounds for the first time or who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds. This resource is also ideal for learners with additional learning needs.
How to use it?
An adult cuts along the dotted lines and places the set of x6 word cards on a table top. Learners look at the image on the left, then sound it out and write this word on the lines (on the right). A visual answer sheet is included which learners can use themselves to encourage autonomy.

The hidden words have been organised into four groups of four, clearly showing all hidden question words below the word search. There are up to 22 words to find per worksheets. Words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) and vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards).
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused.

This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme).

This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds.
How to use it?
An adult prints each sheet out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’ (instructions are included on each sheet itself). These pieces (images and letters) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the image with the matching/correct initial letter sound as a two part mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the images which have the same initial letter.
Resource Details
The images chosen all have a clear initial letter sound at the beginning but are not words which can easily be sounded out. The focus of this activity is purely to identify the initial letter sound for these images - the cross (top right of each image) indicates that these images are not to be sounded out.
Letters of the alphabet together are grouped together as listed below -
Red Set - letters a, e, i, o, u (letters e and o / i and u are together, x5 images each)
Orange Set - letters b, d, g, p, q
Yellow Set - letters c, f, k, s, t

This resource has been designed to encourage learners to investigate the lines of symmetry for all x26 capital letters of the alphabet!
How to use it?
The resource has been designed for learners to investigate the lines of symmetry by first cutting around each capital letter to investigate one letter at a time. It is best to begin by folding letters and cutting once learners are sure they have found a solid line of symmetry. A (safety!) mirror could be helpful as a back up to check (especially if letters have already been cut up!)

Learners will need a pair of scissors each to begin this activity.
Page 1. At the top are ‘larger’ capital letters, each within a dotted box - these dots guide where to cut. Learners can cut out one of these larger letters at a time (to avoid having lots of letters in front of them at once and risk losing some). Learners will need a pair of scissors each to begin this activity.
Along the length of base side of the sheet is a set of smaller capital letters designed to be cut with two simple snips (vertically up to the red line and then horizontally) to separate these from the sheet one at a time. These are designed to be used to record findings (answers) - on page 2. The larger capital letters can go into the bin after they have been cut up, folded and investigated.
Page 2.
Learners will need a pencil to their write their name at the base of page 2 and access to a glue stick to continue their investigation using page 2.
Once learners have investigated and discovered which letters are symmetrical they can snip and stick the smaller capital letters (at the base of page 1) onto either the left or right of page 2 - depending on whether they are/are not symmetrical.
Page 3 clearly shows which capital letters are/are not symmetrical, this is intended to be a reference sheet for learners once they have completed their investigation.
Page 4 also clearly shows which capital letters are/are not symmetrical, but in more detail - including where the actual lines of symmetry are.
For learners who might find the concept of symmetry difficult they can use page 4 (instead of page 1) and use the lines of symmetry included here to explore for themselves where to fold to investigate ‘symmetry’ with support.

What’s included?
This download includes seven A4, portrait pdf sheets to make a number matching set featuring x40 cards (Rainbow Dots to count and numerals from 1 to 20 to match).
How to use this resource
These square cards are designed to be joined together using a plastic clip/string or ribbon (maybe fastened with velcro for easy opening). The numeral cards (like number fans) can be used in a variety of situations including on-the-carpet questioning with the whole class/smaller groups where pupils can show their answers instead of speaking.
However these have been designed to be a counting activity for an individual or group where the square (cards) are already cut up (and hole punched!), shuffled and displayed either loosely on a table top/carpet or already attached on the ring (shuffled or in order). Learners then count the rainbow dots on each card and find the matching numeral (or vice versa!). Once complete (or ‘as they go’ if working ‘in order’) learners can then order the numeral and picture cards together to create a complete set from 1 to 20 or backwards depending on the focus.
These could also be used as a reference resource for learners e.g. to help count and order numbers and/or cross-check the correct orientation of individual numbers if unsure when writing.
This ‘number match’ set could also be used for a variety of games and to accompany and involve learners during counting rhymes and songs, usable both inside the classroom and outdoors (especially if laminated to improve durability in all types of weather!) Hide and seek match could make a fun game where one half of the set (e.g. all the Rainbow Dot cards or all the numeral cards) are missing and learners need to find them and match them up.

Suggestion
I recently purchased some brightly coloured plastic keyrings which can be easily opened by unclipping the plastic (as seen on the main resource image). Alternatively string or thin ribbon would work well. If a small piece of velcro was attached to both ends of string/ribbon with some strong glue this would help learners to be more independent using this resource.

Resource layout
The word search letters are arranged in a x14 (across) by x13 (down) grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The November words have been organised into four groups of four, clearly showing all hidden words below the word search. There are x19 words to find in total and nouns are illustrated on page 1.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards). Words to find are; bonfire, diwali, fireworks, guy fawkes (no space), chrysanthemum, poppies, baked, potato, toffee, apple, all saints day (no space), all souls day (no space), armistice, dark early (no space) and remember.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. What’s included?
This download includes x25 pdf pages, portrait orientation in colour featuring TWO different resources which can be used together. The first resource is a set of x5 OR x10 ‘sound/picture and WORD’ puzzles which are to be cut up and matched. The second resource is a matching set of activity sheets which can be completed on their own or AFTER the ‘sound/picture and WORD puzzles’ have been completed. There is a set of resources for ‘s’, ‘a’, ‘t’, ‘p’, ‘i’ AND ‘n’.

Resource 1
The tick in each image box on pages 1 and 2 (top right) indicates that these images are words which can be sounded out.
The layout of every letter/sound/word puzzle in this set is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent.
Resource 2
Pages 1 and 2 are the SAME activity sheet but at TWO levels - with MORE support (page 1) and LESS support (page 2). Both activity sheets are for practising sounding out and writing words.
Page 3 clearly shows the ‘answers’.
How to use it?
Resource 1. An adult prints these two pages out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters/images/words’. Instructions are also included (left side). The set (of cut up letters, images and words) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the correct initial letter with the image AND word - as a ‘three part’ mini jigsaw puzzle. Each (correct) letter and word only fits the corresponding image.
Resource 2. Learners are to sound out and write the words for the images featured on the sheet, one image per box. Page 1 is easier to complete (than page 2) as lines (to write on) show how many sounds are in each word. Any ‘red’ lines to write on indicate a ‘tricky’ sound which may be difficult to hear clearly when the word is spoken or may be an irregular spelling (not yet learnt). Learners may need help with these letters/sounds.
Page 3 clearly shows the answers. Red letters identify a tricky/irregular spelling.

What’s it for?
This activity set has been designed to give learners an opportunity to look more closely at a set of the first 100/200 high frequency words and practise seeing these words on sight while matching these words with images. This set focuses on tricky words, all ‘nouns’ - all words included have a matching image.
This includes two simple, predictable activities to promote independence and consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for individuals/groups to be getting on with independently or those needing some individual 1:1 support.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for Early Years children who are learning these words for the first time, pupils in years one and two who need some practise/reinforcement of these words. This resource is also suitable for older learners with additional learning needs.
How to use it?
An adult can pre-cut along dotted lines provided and the set of x17 words (and images) can be shuffled and placed face-up on the carpet/a table top for learners to look at carefully and try to match. When completing the cut/match sheet learners may be able to cut out the words (at the base of each sheet) themselves.

These words are all from the first 100/200 high frequency word list and are all ‘tricky’.
Red letters indicate the ‘tricky’ part/s.
Some letters are underlined - this indicates that together these (underlined) letters have one sound.
A ‘key’ is included at the top of each sheet (top, right).
The lilac box outline colour indicates that these words are all part of the ‘nouns’ set.
The small, white cross (top left of each image box) indicates that these words are not intended to be sounded out. Adults may wish to provide learners with one sheet at a time (cut up and ready to ‘match’) or all x4 sheets at once. All sheets provide learners with an opportunity to become more familiar with seeing and reading these words on-sight.
