I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

The Walking Dead - Season 1 - Congruence and Similarity

(18)
Decide which buildings are free from zombies (shufflers and nibblers) by using knowledge of congruence and similarity to help Deputy Nick Crimes. The PowerPoint has basic animations (the answers basically) as it was exported from Notebook, but I've no doubt you can add some if you like. There's a worksheet if the students need it.

Thor and Loki (Locus)

(9)
Please excuse the pun in the title but I can't believe it&'s not been done before (maybe it has and I&';ve missed it). Various locus related situations for Thor to navigate in order to defeat Loki's recruits.

Writing Formulae

(41)
A quite basic sheet asking students to write formulae from given situations. For those who aren't overly keen on algebra!
Santa's Algebraic Elves

Santa's Algebraic Elves

(9)
A little known fact about Santa's helpers the elves is that they are very keen mathematicians. They have written down various bits of information required by Santa in algebra. Help Santa sort it all out. Contains simplifying expressions, solving equations, expanding and factorising and co-ordinates on graphs.

QR Code Defuse The Bomb - Algebra

(3)
Three different activities, each with five questions and a choice of three answers. They must scan the QR code associated to the correct answer to get the next 'colour' in the code. Activity 1 is wordy but relatively easy, Activity 2 a little tougher and Activity 3 that hardest (including factorising quadratics).

Simultaneous Equations - McDonald's Style

(33)
Calculate how much each person must pay based on their orders at McDonald's. The inspiration came from mrslack_maths and his resource linked here: https://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/McDonalds-Simultaneous-Equations-6406906/ which is very nice so go and have a look at that as well!
Defuse The Bomb - Substitution

Defuse The Bomb - Substitution

(6)
The usual ‘answer the questions and defuse the bomb’ story, this time involving substitution. Two worksheets, the second one being more difficult than the first.

Twitter Usage Calculations

(2)
I saw a picture on Twitter showing what happens in a minute on the social networking site (lots of my students use it too). I therefore came up with this activity. I'm sure you could make more questions based upon the statistics given.
Party Planner - Substitution

Party Planner - Substitution

(3)
Help test the formulae the party planner uses to calculate the amounts of each item they need. Very straight forward and intended for a low ability set.
Codebreaker - Substitution

Codebreaker - Substitution

(5)
Find the values of the expressions to get the letters to an anagram of a film. Fairly straight forward but sheet 2 is more difficult than sheet 1.

Spot The Mistakes - Expressions and Equations

(8)
This is a revision aid where students must read the 'notes' carefully and find the deliberate errors (and possibly undeliberate ones!). I have split (with some overlap) it up into three parts going from 'what is an expression/identity/equation?', through simplifying, expanding brackets, factorising into a bracket, solving equations, multiplying out 2 brackets, factorising quadratics and solving quadratics (factorising, completing the square and the formula). The aim is to get them active in their revision!
Codebreaker - Factorising Quadratics

Codebreaker - Factorising Quadratics

(5)
Factorise then solve the anagrams for a film - pretty straightforward and sheet 2 is harder than sheet 1 with coefficients of x squared being greater than 1. Correct file now there!
Codebreaker - Solving Quadratics (Factorising)

Codebreaker - Solving Quadratics (Factorising)

(16)
Solve the quadratics and reveal the anagram of a film - each quadratic gives 2 answers unless there is an odd number of letters in a word when the answer counts just once. The second sheet contains coefficients of x squared that are greater than one and a difference of 2 squares question.
Codebreaker - Solving Equations

Codebreaker - Solving Equations

(17)
Three different codebreakers covering solving equations of increasing difficulty as you go through them. Solve the equations, find the letter and complete the anagrams of films.

QR Code Puzzle 24 - Ratio

(2)
The usual story that links to Cher's 'Believe' (I couldn&'t find a song containing the word 'Share' so you&';ll have to put up with this pun). All worded ratio questions.
The Data Games

The Data Games

(9)
A student gave me the title (pun on 'The Hunger Games' - original was 'The Number Games'), I did the rest. Five different sets of questions in a functional style for students to work through either individually or in pairs/teams.
