I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Music Earnings - Percentages (Mainly)

I found a simple bar chart online breaking down where the money from a CD sale goes and came up with this. It's mainly percentages, but there are exchange rates and calculations to be done too. I&'m sure you can all come up with other questions about it, but this is what I dreamt up!

Baking Bad - Season 5 - Data Handling

Help William 'Billy' Black anaylise the data he has to see if he will make enough before his abduction by aliens. This includes reading pictograms, bar charts, pie charts, frequency polygons, finding three averages and estimating the mean. I'm sure you can all come up with other calculations/interpretations that they can make too! Hopefully I have corrected the typo too.

Prison Bake - Ratio and Proportion

A student gave me the name and I came up with the rest. Simple ratio and proportion. I have done a worksheet but will probably use it as a powerpoint and get them to do the answers. The ratios don't get massively difficult, so more for lower ability I would say.

Baking Bad - Season 4 - Transformations

Describe the transformations William 'Billy' Black has use to place the cakes on the tables at the various events. There are 8 of them to describe, getting increasingly difficult. Answers are on the powerpoint only as I couldn't fit them on the worksheet.

Baking Bad - Season 3 - Solving Equations

William Billy Black needs your help to work out how many cakes to put on each table at the various events he’s catering for. It’s an exercise in forming and solving equations. They get progressively more difficult and my initial thoughts is that I wouldn’t do it all at once but in three parts.

This help William 'Billy' Black calculate how much grease-proof paper he needs plus how much each cake tine can hold. The shapes go from cuboids to a cylinder to a hemisphere to a frustum, so you can start and finish where you like.

Help desperate Food Tech teacher Billy Black with his cake recipes before he's abducted by aliens. Clearly a play on the TV show, but an exercise in simple proportion using amounts of ingredients for recipes - the calculations get progressively more difficult.

QR Code Puzzle 11 - Negative Number Calculations

Answer the questions: if the answer is even, colour in the appropriate square, if it's odd, leave the square blank. The QR code then takes you to Depeche Mode&'s 1989 classic 'Personal Jesus', which has nothing to do with negative numbers (the only song called 'Negative' I could find is Mansun&';s effort, but the video is a bit odd).

Round the numbers - if it rounds up, colour in the appropriate square; if it rounds down, leave that square blank. When finished it scans to Dead Or Alive's 1985 classic 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)'. Poor pun, but the best I could do!

Answer the questions, colour in the answers that are even, leave blank the answers that are odd, use your Smartphone to scan the resultant QR code to get a link to Joyzipper's song '1' (it&'s a great song, and I can heartily recommend the album too). My lot(s) love it!
