A reading and a listening assessment on the topics of town and house. Reading: compass points buildings in town there is / there isn’t adjectives to describe town rooms of the house Listening: countries and nationalities prepositions (sur, sous, devant, derriere…) rooms of the house buildings in town Audio lasts approximately 16 minutes and includes instructions + 3 repetitions of each task. Apologies for the quality of the audio. You might need to pause in between to give students time to write down their answers. If your pupils have IPads, you can also play/use the following for revision purposes : Blooket : https://www.blooket.com/set/61efbafe74a00eef9a904ffe Quizlet : https://quizlet.com/_ayjrad?x=1jqt&i=1n9vey

La famille - Vivre chez ses parents/Etre un Tanguy - Higher French

(1)
Fits in nicely when talking about advantages and disadvantages of living at home. These two articles explain the meaning of ‘etre un Tanguy’, an expression still widely used in France to talk about people staying with their parents after a certain age. The video is from Youtube, I used it as an introduction to the topic. The PPT has questions that candidates can attempt to write about then discuss out loud to practice conversation skills.

Unit of work around 'Les Aventures de Tintin'

(4)
This unit of work was designed for an end of year project for National 4 pupils. It includes some activities that are not so focused on languages. Through this unit, pupils will discover the different main characters of the comics and their traits of personality. They also look at Belgium and some facts about the country. Toward the end, they will get to stage a picture from the comic (laughs guaranteed) and create a display board to promote languages and French speaking countries for your department. Finally, they will watch the film ‘Les Aventures de Tintin - Le Secret de la Licorne’ if you want to tie in the project nicely. You can also choose to show the TV series episodes instead. The lessons are the following: Lesson 1: discover characters (fully in French), and answer questions. Lesson 2: Look at the film trailer and ‘costumes’, revisit clothing items. Lesson 3: Research task on Belgium, Ipads or computers required. Lesson 4 and 5: Create props for Tintin challenge and take picture. Lesson 6 and 7: Create display board Lesson 8,9,10: Watch the film ‘Les Aventures de Tintin’ EDIT: I added PDF versions as well, in case the layout gets too messed up when you download. Fully editable material remains available :) Slides should have teacher’s notes in the Note section of the main presentation, however, I’m not the best at explaining so if you have any questions, get in touch! :)

French Culture through the world of Disney

This short unit of work was designed for a ‘personal choice’ class. Hence why it’s not so language oriented. This resource includes a pupil booklet with activities, a teacher booklet with answers/possible extensions/ideas on how to introduce each activity, and videos relevant to some activities. Blindtest was found on youtube, DM for credits! (not my own work) Any question/problem, just get in touch :)

Nat4/5 Employability Quiz

UPDATE: Onisep has changed slightly changed their quiz. New documents with new links and QR codes. This can be done as homework or over some lessons in class - I have done it for online learning. It includes links to Quizlet sets to revise. It prepares pupils to take a quiz on the Onisep website :) I do most of my worksheets on ppt as it’s easier to manipulate, it is not a presentation but a worksheet! I’ve also included PDF version in case the layout tries to bail on you :)
French Christmas Code Breaker

French Christmas Code Breaker

(0)
A single worksheet in French with 6 little codes to break, exploring Christmas vocabulary in French. Perfect if you’re tired of the traditional wordsearches and colouring ! Instructions (teacher guide) and answers are on page 2. I think this would suit most levels in secondary but would take longer with the younger ones. Hope your students enjoy it!

French Escape Game

French Escape Game

(5)
This is an escape game on the topic of school subjects and opinions. It probably takes about 5-7 minutes to complete, according to level of comfort with the topic :) I was told it works better on chrome than mozilla. If students do it from phone / tablet, they can move the screen around and zoom in/out to see the content better. I believe you can edit your own version as well if you want to change some of the phrasing or language !
