I’ve included a quiz sheet with this resource but it does not have to be used. This quiz can be done in teams or individually. The PowerPoint is interactive and fully editable. I’ve included teacher instructions for the interactive elements and also the video used for the music round, although there is a video link with the PowerPoint. Feedback is welcomed on this resource.

This is a whole lesson for the Edexcel GCSE Combined Science CB1d (also matches single Science Biology SB1d). This is aimed at lower ability students, but can be easily adapted for higher ability groups. Since the course is longer, I’ve added in a practical lesson, which could be done within an hour, as well as the theory for CB1d which should take a full lesson.
This is a full lesson for the Edexcel SB2e GCSE lesson. This lesson requires access to the edexcel worksheets and activities include a brain dissection and drawing a brain onto a snood. This lesson is fully editable.
This is a game based on the card game Taboo. This is meant to be a whole class activity but can be modified so that pupils can do it in small groups. The keywords are from the CB6a GCSE Edexcel course, but can be used or changed to suit other exam boards. This is meant to be a plenary but can be used as a starter or lesson filler.
This is a whole lesson based on Science Spot’ Christmas chromatography activity. It is aimed at KS3 Science students, but can be done with KS2 or KS4 SEN pupils also. The aim is to get pupils producing hanging Christmas decorations using chromatography. It is an alternative to watching a video at the end of term. The resource is fully editable and can be easily adapted. It is assumed that pupils have some knowledge of chromatography already, although this is not necessary for them to do the activity.

These are a set of low stakes tests designed to help pupils prepare for their exams. They are specific to the Edexcel 9-1 Paper 2 Biology exams (SB1, SB6-SB9). Each test takes around 10 minutes and can be used for a quick assessment, including peer or self assessment, or for revision or homework. The mark schemes are at the end of each paper, but can be cut out These are aimed at higher ability pupils, but foundation pupils may be able to complete some of the assessments.
These are a group of certificates/awards (39) aimed at year 11 leavers, but can be used for other year groups. They are meant to be fun, as well as show appreciation to individuals within a form group. There is also a form group nomination sheet which can be given to a class, and they could nominate individuals for each certificate/award. Each certificate is easy to adpat.
