This is a series of PowerPoints and questions introducing and testing knowledge of Distance, Speed and Time. Starting with simple Time questions, pupils will learn how to recognise different types of DST question, and how to solve them. - Some introductory questions that check pupils can convert between 12hr and 24hr time, and convert between hours and minutes - Checking pupils can recognise whether they are being asked a Distance, Speed or Time question. - Estimating speeds of different forms of transport - A class project for each group to work out the time it takes to get somewhere, by different forms of transport - A couple of PowerPoints on timetables DST Starters - Some standard test-level DST questions - A spreadsheet and graph of the distance from school and time it takes to get there from one example class.

It's taken from a Murder Mystery Package I wrote hence it includes a small riddle element at the end. There are two levels of difficulty (A is easier than B) that both have the same solution. A group activity to practice using bearings. Each group designs a route (choosing how many paces and how many bearings for each leg of the journey) then swaps with another group to see if they can follow the given route. Each group will need a compass (or compass app on phone).

An interactive Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game focused on numeracy questions. The questions near the end get very tricky! They are on the following topics - percentage, area, ratio, factorising, probability, volume, negative numbers, difference of squares, scale factors, angles, sequences, DST I normally do this with pupils writing their letters on mini-whiteboards before the right answer is displayed, and you can also do something with the lifelines if you like.
