A fantastic way of revising rationing in WWII. How you play: - Each pair of pupils needs one learning grid and two dice - One pupil roles both dice and counts the number along the bottom and then up the grid. This gives them the first image. The pupil then repeats the process again to get another image. It is then down to them to explain how the rationing images are linked. Imagination time! - The other pupil then does the same. - The best explanations can be written down after around fifteen minutes. This task is a great way to revise key topics and help develop explanations. There is also a simpler grid for lower ability pupils.

A lesson that revises key aspects of volcanoes, earthquakes and plate tectonics. It is designed so there are a number of different types of revision exercises and the pupils evaluate each of these for usefulness at the end. Great as an introduction to revision techniques for later in their schooling.

A double lesson giving a good overview of the causes of crime and punishment and why crime changed during this period. It includes a challenging thinking activity using sources that gets pupils digging into causation.

2 tasks for pupils studying Charles I: - A two sided internet research worksheet - A starter task to get pupils discussing why Charles I aggravated some elements in society

A collection of resources that could be used with your SOW: - A simple internet search activity to be used at the end of a study on slavery and the CRM - A statements sheet with comments about slavery and equal rights which promote classroom discussion - A PowerPoint and worksheet lesson in which pupils listen to some tracks (links to You Tube audio tracks on PP) and then come up with their own album of the CRM including designing the cover and choosing the tracks. This worksheet is better blown up to A3 so pupils have a good area in which to create their album design.

An introduction to the changing nature of co-operation between countries and peoples. First display a map of Ireland and Great Britain on the whiteboard. Model the co-operation evident between these two countries. Hand out cards with facts and information about countries to pupils. In pairs or small groups, pupils explore how the countries co-operate with each other and any reasons why they would not.

A lesson that explores the reasons why British society changed between 1900 and 1953. The main activity involves pupils populating an A3 sheet about three main factors of change at the time - The government, Media and Industry. The lesson was supplemented by the British Society 1900 - 1953 textbook but you can easily adapt the resources to make them how you want.

A murder mystery exercise. Split the class into pairs or groups of three. Give each pupil the you decide worksheets to jot down their findings. then: -Starter: As they sit down introduce the mystery using the presentation to get them engaged. They need to work out who was 'responsible' for the murder. - Put sources into three envelopes and give them to the groups in 5-8 minute intervals so it feels like an ongoing investigation and they are not swamped. - Finally discuss their findings.

A comprehensive 12 page whole school CPD booklet focused on: Setting up collaboration research groups amongst your staff focused on school key priorities Research cycle and forms for groups to complete Rationale on introducing research groups A focus on Solution Focused Coaching to assist with research, including a detailed rationale. I have introduced this across two schools in the past, including one outside of my trust. The document is editable for leaders to amend priorities and add names of teachers. 7 lessons and an Assessment on the Titanic. Includes an investigation into the Edwardian class system, passengers, design of the ship and why and who was to blame for the disaster.

3 lessons with resources including: - Full presentations on Hindu Holy Books, Ramayana and how Hindu's worship/temples - Pupil sheets ready to print off in A4 or A3 - A 2 lesson assessment activity on Hindu temples that brings together their knowledge. Give pupils 2 lessons for activities on gathering evidence and then two lessons for designing their temples. - Assessment is not levels but rather the mastery system with key descriptions and examples to help pupils achieve secure.

A Scheme of Work I do with my Yr9's that mixes the political and social history of the Cold War. They explore how political events panned out during the decades of the Cold War and then in the following lesson investigate what life was like for teenagers at the time. This pack also includes: - A SOW with lesson objectives/outcomes and suggested activities with links. - Resources that can be used with a number of the lessons To help resource this further; get hold of some teenager magazines from the 80s (i.e. BJ magazine) and photocopy them, the BBC documentary box set called the Twentieth Century and some items such as Walkman's and records. These are great to use as discussion points during lessons. I got hold of most from other (older) teachers and TA's. Also a good excuse to go hunting around family lofts for toys, board games, newspapers and defunct electronics. I can't stress how much pupils and you will enjoy this unit. It's a nostalgic journey into a key era of world history. Also still very relevant now.

Designed for the new Edexcel History specification to be taught from 2016 and first examined in 2018. A 22 page stand alone booklet for the Modern Depth Study that you can print off and distribute to students. A great way to get them practicing each type of exam question. - All sources are included in the booklet - Before each question there is a tips page with key information on how to approach it - For questions 1 and 2 there are two different types of question so they have more chances to practice - A box is available so teachers can comment on how to improve - The correct space is allocated for each question so pupils are aware of how much to write.

A full revision guide for GCSE specs and those with an interest in how different crimes and punishments have changed through time. Easy to print off and distribute to pupils to help with revision of key topics.

A full set of resources to deliver a half term scheme of work on the History of Fun. This is a great way to get pupils thinking about the development of themes over time. It is in chronological order and includes lessons on: - First humans - Egyptians - Greeks - Romans - Medieval - Tudors - Victorians - 20th century There is also an assessment with lessons that can be used summatively.
