Intended for the study of films in Spanish, this handout provides introductory steps to analysing film, and a comprehensive glossary of vocabulary in English and Spanish with detailed explanations and examples. The examples relate to the Almodovar film, Volver, but the principles can be applied to any film. It is roughly aimed at students studying for A-Level, Pre-U or IB (aged 16+). Whilst this resource is designed to provide information, you can also create activities from it, for example, by mixing up the Spanish and English words to match up, or match words to definitions. Or, you could assign different students certain terms and ask them to produce a short analysis of these aspects in one key scene to present to the class.
A selection of resources on the topic of les loisirs, le temps libre etc. roughly KS3-KS4 level. Resources include sentence builders, vocab activities, listening comprehension, model writing exercises, speaking exercises.
A set of 5 activities and answers in Spanish for students studying Almodóvar’s film Julieta, at A level, Pre U or similar level (16+), intended for when students are about to watch the film or have just watched it. This is an alternative to my previous resource which used the same overview material, but was in the format of a traditional reading comprehension. This format incorporates 5 different activities, each of which allow for more active manipulation of the language, so it is important that the activities are not completed superficially – allow sufficient lesson time during each activity to focus on the content of the texts as well as the grammatical or syntactical aspects of the language. This content could be used for 1-2 lessons or 1 lesson and homework.
A huge collection of activities to introduce and extensively practise vocab on describing people (phsyical description with ser, tener, eyes, hair, and description of personality). Activities include listening and speaking activities, translations (oral and written), sentence unjumbling, multiple-choice, writing frames with support etc.
