KS3 The Ear and Hearing

(1)
Complete lesson on the Ear and Hearing, designed for the new Activate Scheme but can be used for another syllabus’ as well. Includes various tasks and discussions around how hearing can be damaged. All answers are provided on the slides so students can self/peer assess. This lesson includes link to a videos to support learning. There is a differentiated worksheet on the structure of the ear and what each structure does. There is a low ability and high ability set of information sheets that can be printed on A3 and placed around the room for the students to use to fill in their worksheet. The lower ability information sheets are best printed in colour and have basic information on them needed to complete the diagram label and part and function match up. In contrast, the higher ability worksheet requires students to read a more detailed information sheet and extract the key information to include themselves when annotating the diagram. Complete lesson on Frequency and Pitch, designed for the new Activate Scheme but can be used for another syllabus’ as well. Includes various tasks, calculations and discussions. All answers are provided on the slides so students can self/peer assess. This lesson works great if you have an oscilloscope so students can link frequency to pitch. It also includes a link to a youtube video for a ‘hearing test’ which students love to carry out to see how high a frequency they can hear to. There is a differentiated task on frequencies that animals can hear with low ability students using data to answer questions and high ability students presenting the data in their own graph. Check out my other resources and if you like this lesson, please leave a review.

KS3 Sound Waves and Speed Lesson

(0)
KS3 Lesson on Sound Waves and Speed of Sound, designed to go with the new Activate scheme. However, it is a great introduction/recap to waves and more specifically sound waves. Differentiated questions and an extension task moving into echoes and sound for higher ability students. Some great opportunities for discussion around what sound can travel through and why, linking to particle diagrams. Only equipment needed to support this lesson is a slinky to use to demonstrate the different types of waves. If you like this lesson, please check out my other lessons and leave a review. Thanks.

Acids and Alkalis KS3 Intervention Lesson and Marking Sticker

(0)
Intervention lesson and marking sticker with tasks for a Low Ability Year 7 class following the end of topic test. Could be done before the test using their book work. Students work through the intervention lesson as a class, completing a summary A3 mind map with all the main information on it and then complete their intervention task highlighted on their marking sticker independently. If you like this resource, feel free to check out my other resources and leave a review. Thanks
Energy Revision Pyramid KS3

Energy Revision Pyramid KS3

(0)
Great for a revision lesson on energy and energy resources. Two different levels of pyramids; one for mid to high ability and one for low ability groups. Students use any resources available to them including lesson notes and textbooks to try and complete as many questions as they can to get to 100 points. This is a great differentiated resource as students can attempt harder questions for more points or stick to lower level questions for less points, meaning more questions. Answers are also included for all the questions. Students should only need 20-30 minutes to attempt pyramid and then can self assess.
KS3 Energy Dissipation

KS3 Energy Dissipation

(0)
Attached is a complete lesson on Energy dissipation for KS3 Energy Transfers topic. It covers energy dissipation, energy transfers and efficiency calculations. For high ability students you could get them to have a go at creating Sankey diagrams on wasted and useful energy. I have created a step by step narrative on Efficiency calculations that can be used as an activity with the students. You may find that the high ability students do not need this extra support. Hope you find this complete lesson with resources helpful. Please leave a review.
Drawing Ions Step by step guide with practice

Drawing Ions Step by step guide with practice

(0)
I created this worksheet as a support sheet for students struggling with drawing the structure of ions in preparation for drawing ionic bonds. This worksheet is best printed off on A3 and works to walk students through the steps involved in determining the electronic configuration of elements first as atoms and then when they form ions. The layout is in a style that allows students to easily follow the process. Have used a similiar format in the past on calculation style questions in physics and students loved it!
Energy and Power KS3

Energy and Power KS3

(0)
Complete lesson and worksheet on Energy and Power with worked examples and calculations. Lesson will take between 1-2 lessons depending on ability of group. The lesson works through what is power, then on to changing between units with some practice questions before moving onto the Power equations and practicing using them to calculate energy, power and time. Questions increase in difficulty with more longer questions later on. All answers are included to allow students to self assess. The lesson then goes on to looking at how to calculate cost of electricity. Hope you like it. If so, please leave a review.

KS3 Electromagnets Revision Pyramid Activity. Answers are also included to allow for self/peer assessment. Students have to answer as many questions as they can to reach 100 points in a certain time. This is a great activity for revision purposes and allows students to differentiate the level of questioning they answer as different questions are worth different amounts of points with harder questions being worth more.

KS3 Electricity Marking Stickers and Feedback Tasks

KS3 Electricity Marking Stickers and Feedback Tasks

(0)
KS3 Electricity Marking Stickers and Feedback Tasks covering the whole topic. There are two different versions of the marking sticker and activities. These are designed for most students with a second version for a very low ability group. Marking stickers: I will Red, Amber, Green each descriptor depending on whether the student has show evidence in their work that they have met this learning objective. The bottom part of the sticker is to tick if there are more generalised areas that students need to work such as presentation. The activities match the learning objectives from the stickers. I normally print these as information booklets with two slides to a page. Students can then flick through to any task numbers that they were Red on in their marking sticker and complete the task as explained in the yellow boxes. This should close the gap for the students in their learning. Please leave a review about how helpful you found this.
KS3 Electricity Revision Pyramid & Answers

KS3 Electricity Revision Pyramid & Answers

(0)
This resource includes two question revision pyramids aimed at Low ability and mid/high ability for Year 7 on the topic of electricity. Answers are included on separate slides for peer or self assessment in lessons. I normally give the students a set amount of time e.g. 20 minutes for them to complete questions of their choice to reach a total of 100 points. Different level of questions are worth different amounts of points. This means students can choose the low level questions and have more to complete, or can choose the more challenging questions and complete less questions. It is a great revision tool for Year 7s and provides a challenge as students can become competitive to see who can get the most points. It is an engaging activity.

Current

(0)
A lesson on Current for KS3 with practical activities included to allow students to determine how the current changes with series and parallel circuits. Rope needed to demonstrate how the current flows through a circuit and to show that the electrons are already present in circuit and don’t come from the battery. Can be used with some calculation questions to reinforce understanding for higher level groups.

5 lessons on Electricity KS3 for Low Ability Group

(0)
Attached are 5 lessons and worksheets for a very low ability Year 7 class on Electricity. Lessons are designed to go along with the worksheets. Practical activities need to be run alongside the lessons to support the learning. I can’t take credit for the worksheets as they were made by someone else. They were given to me by another teacher so I don’t know who made them to give them the credit. If you like the lessons, then please leave a review and view my other lessons and resources.
