Here is a lesson I used with a top set year 8 class over a period of two lessons. the first lesson focused on what are moments, levers, pivots and turning forces with a practical to help students understand how the forces work. There are two different practicals, one for lower ability and one for higher ability. Following this, pupils can self assess on how they feel about moments and calculating them and then complete the releveant worksheet, self assess using the markscheme and then move onto the next level. This independent differentiated task allows for focus on helping those who are struggling more. The presentation is sectioned off so sections that aren’t needed in the lesson (e.g. LA in HA group) can be hidden by highlighting slides, right clicking and select Hide Slides.
