A full lesson based on festivals and traditions of different cultures.
The lesson focuses on revising/refreshing the present and past tense of regular verbs.
Activities include reading, translation and listening tasks, a fill the gap task, and a fun speaking task (trapdoor game).
A lesson based around food & eating out.
The lesson begins with recap activities on food+diet vocabulary and sentences.
It continues with a reading activity on restaurants and a listening activity based on a dialogue (ordering food in a restaurant).
This last activity also serves as a model for the following speaking activities, where pupils will be recreating the dialogue to order their own food at the restaurant.
A lesson based on shops vocabulary.
The lesson includes a starter task, shops vocabulary presentation with mini quizzes to break down the repetition, a flippity game, a reading comprehension task, and a writing task that can also be made a speaking task as needed.
A short lesson on verbs ‘pouvoir’ and ‘devoir’ in the present tense.
The lesson includes a reading/match-up task introducing these verbs in the context of activities + why we can’t do these activities; an explanation of modal verbs and the conjugations of ‘vouloir’, ‘pouvoir’, ‘devoir’; a simple mini whiteboard task; a fill the gap task; and a fun noughts and crosses game to end the lesson.
Lesson on activities to do in your town with explanation of how to use PUEDO vs SE PUEDE.
Activities include a match-up, a translation task, a fill the gap, and a Quizzizz created by myself.
Qu’est-ce qu’il faut acheter pour ta fete ?
This lesson includes a starter on foods and partitive articles to get the pupils settled and warmed up.
It continues with an explanation of how to use il faut + infinitives, with a detailed recap on what are infinitives and how to recognise them.
It moves on to a mini whiteboard task to check for pupil understanding, before moving on to a reading/sorting out exercise which is also a model for a final writing task.
A lesson presenting shops vocabulary, with mini match up activities to break down the vocab repetitions and drill in the new words.
Following this is a translation and match-up activity on what you can buy in different shops.
The lesson goes on showing how to say what is in your town and it ends with a well scaffolded and modelled speaking + writing task to get pupils talking and writing about their town.
The second of 2 lessons on the imperfect tense.
The lesson begins with a recap of how to form the imperfect tense and it follows with the Kahoot from the previous lesson (in case you’re purchasing only 1 lesson, or to give the students a second chance at it).
Then there is a sorting task where pupils need to identify the present and the imperfect tense. Follows a reading task and a quiz/recall squares plenary.
Lesson on ‘‘dans ma ville’’ vocabulary + negative form.
Lots of activities including quizzes, translations, slap the board, sentence bingo, and beat the teacher.
Full lesson on present tense of -ER verbs. Includes detailed explanation of grammar rule and some knowledge consolidating activities (mini whiteboards, reading task, and a fun battleship game).
A lesson based around revising past tense endings and describing a special day.
The lesson also focuses on teaching students how to appropriately use a dictionary, and it includes a useful slides with tips.
Activities include a match-up, a fill the gap / mini whiteboard task, a looking up words in the dictionary task, and a translation task.
This lesson includes a full recap of how to form comparatives, and also of adjectives. It then moves on to how to form superlatives.
There’s plenty of tasks including reading comprehension (true or false); match-up tasks; complete the sentences; unjumble and translate tasks; make comparative sentences into superlative sentences.
The PowerPoint is quite plain hence it’s more ideal for older students (Year 9 onwards). Also ideal for private tutoring.
A full lesson on the environment and what people do to protect it.
The lesson begins with a translation recap task on previously introduced vocabulary.
It follows with a recap of when to use ‘‘me preocupa’’ vs ‘‘me preocupan’’ and similar expressions and with a presentation of more expressions related to the environment.
Following is a reading/match-up task and a speaking trapdoor task to consolidate learning and provide scaffolding for future tasks.
Finally, there is a well scaffolded writing task.
A full lesson on holidays.
It includes lots of vocabulary presentations broken down by tasks such as ‘‘beat the teacher’’. It follows with a reading/match-up task to consolidate learning. Then, it moves on to a short group reading task that serves as a scaffold for the following speaking task that the pupils will complete in pairs. Finally, the lesson ends with a writing task. It also includes a mini plenary (exit tickets) to quickly check for student understanding and retainment.
A full lesson for Y7 or Y8 based on creating a dialogue inviting others to activities and making excuses.
The lesson begins with a recap of activities based on a match-up exercise (match-up questions and answers).
It moves on to a revision of common expressions related to answering propositions.
Follows a speaking trapdoor game to get the pupils talking and practicing the expressions they’ve revised.
Following this is a presentation of activities that can be used to make excuses when invited somewhere (eg. sorry, I have to wash the car; sorry, I have to walk the dog, etc.). This presentation is broken down with and followed by quizzes to help with memorisation and retainment.
Finally, pupils can practiced these conversations with the help of a well scaffolded slide, before moving on to writing their own dialogue.
A lesson on vocabulary about volunteering and verbs followed by infinitives (ex. pienso ayudar, quiero servir comida, etc.).
It includes a match-up, a fill the gap, and a translation task to prepare for the final activity which is a well scaffolded and modelled writing task.
