KS2 Science PowerPoint Lesson and worksheets This is the second lesson in a series of Year 3 Science lessons on Plants. Corresponds to the Year 3 Science statutory requirements: explore the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients from soil, and room to grow) and how they vary from plant to plant. 18 pages including the front cover and Hoppy Times terms and conditions. In this lesson, students will discuss the 7 living processes of all the living things (Mrs Gren); explain possible reasons for wilting in plants; predict and further explore the main things all plants need to live and grow; set up their own investigation on monitoring the growth of a radish plant under different conditions; answer follow-up questions. Activity worksheet on needs of a plant and an investigation sheet are both included (.pdf format) . The list of materials to set up an investigation is included in the PowerPoint. Science: Friction. How do things move on different surfaces? This PowerPoint Science lesson can be used as an introduction to studying Friction. Suitable for KS2. This editable Science PowerPoint lesson can be used as an introduction to studying the topic of Forces. Suitable for KS1 and lower KS2. It introduces force as a simple concept of push and pull; lets pupils explore the movements of objects when force is applied; invites pupils to measure the force of carrying an object using a force/Newton meter. The lesson has plenty of opportunities for independent learning and exploration. It comes with an investigation template and a worksheet with a Venn diagram for sorting forces into push, pull or both. For this lesson you will need: 1. Large piece of paper / whiteboards for each group for the Starter (optional). 2. Newton meters for investigation (at least 1 per group). 3. Plastic bags to put small classroom objects in (at least 1 per group). 4. Marbles / bouncy balls / soft balls for exploration (at least 1 per group). 5. Celebrate Chinese New Year in your classroom with this easy and fun craft and writing activity suitable for KS1 / lower KS2. Start by reading a story about the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, then introduce the main activity – making a Zodiac wheel. Children cut out the wheel and animal cards which they then glue to the wheel and colour or decorate it. Finish off with a quick writing task – children draw or colour (both versions included) their Zodiac animal, read about its strength and weaknesses and say if they agree with the descriptions. Children study the menus (differentiated 3 ways - prices in pence up to 20, prices in pence up to £1, prices in £ using decimals); they then proceed to answer questions on the task cards; alternatively, a teacher can set a budget for the children to spend in the cafe or use fake money and role play.
